Job description

About Rivian

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

We are seeking a versatile individual to join our Creative Studio team as a Video Editor & Motion Designer. The focus of this role will be to create Rivian brand content—from editorial cuts to motion graphics and light animation. This hybrid role requires a blend of creative flair and technical proficiency in both disciplines.

The position involves day-to-day collaboration with Creative Studio peers across Production, Integrated Marketing and Social Media. You will manage your own projects while also supporting creative and editorial leads on larger campaigns, contributing to the organization’s success by creating best-in-class content optimized for performance across owned and paid channels. This role offers exciting growth opportunities in a diverse, technical, and creative environment.

You are a natural storyteller, passionate about visual media, graphic design and editorial craft, thriving in fast-paced environments. You must be comfortable crafting narratives and motion systems tailored to specific platforms and audiences, balancing multiple priorities, and taking creative risks to produce fun, engaging work.

Responsibilities
  • Weave compelling narratives from raw footage that align with marketing strategies, product launches, and key campaigns. Expertly assemble audio, select appropriate music, and use sound effects to maximize storytelling impact.
  • Concept, design, and animate motion graphics—including typography, title cards, lower thirds, logo animations, and UI elements—that extend the Rivian brand system.
  • Translate campaign strategies into video and motion deliverables optimized for business goals. Partner with designers and creative directors to evolve static concepts into scalable motion toolkits and templates.
  • Collaborate with the Organic Social and Performance Marketing teams to ensure all motion and video assets align with briefs, maintain visual consistency, and meet brand guidelines.
  • Support lead editors by prepping projects (e.g., proxy creation, building selects sequences) and assisting with larger video deliveries and versioning.
  • Organize footage and manage Rivian’s digital media library, including clear file naming, folder structures, and asset tracking. Stay attuned to cultural trends for short-form, social-first motion concepts.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of video editing experience and 2+ years of experience creating brand content.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent practical experience.
  • Portfolio demonstrating storytelling across a variety of channels, with a strong reel showcasing motion graphics and animation for brand work.
  • Demonstrated expertise in motion graphics and animation, including type-driven design, logo/lockup animation, and simple UI/UX motion.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects. Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite is required, and experience with DaVinci Resolve is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills for internal creative reviews.
  • Strong attention to detail, strategic thinking, and creative instincts for storytelling in both edit and motion.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, adapt quickly to changing directions, and be receptive to feedback.
  • Creative storyteller with an out-of-the-box mindset. Must possess a collaborative spirit, an engaging personality, and a passion for organic and paid social media.
