Position Summary

Reporting to the Sales Director, the Sales Manager will be a critical member of the sales team, helping to both maintain current business and build new business within the Peanut Shelling business.  The Sales Manager will lead contract negotiations with customers and grow business by building new opportunities and defending against competitive threats. 

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success working with internal resources to further develop relationships with key accounts and building competitive advantage with our customers through strategic use of business-specific resources. 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Work with the Sales Director to develop and implement a strategic sales plan on a customer-specific basis in order to meet and/or exceed corporate sales objectives.
  • Work with the Sales Director to manage existing customer relationships, both directly and indirectly through a network of industry brokers (as needed).
  • Work with the Sales Director to manage relationships with industry brokers, positioning Olam Peanut Shelling as a preferred supplier choice in the peanut industry.
  • Develop new accounts and drive sales volume growth for our peanut products in the US market and export markets, as deemed appropriate.
  • Deepen our understanding of the market and the requirements of our customers.
  • Analyzing and arranging complex market and industry numbers to provide clear and concise next steps for management decision making. 
  • Work with the Customer Service / Logistics group to manage and move excess inventory in the most cost effective manner possible.
  • Work with the Accounting / Finance team to resolve any accounting related issues with customers, as needed.
  • Represent ofi / Olam Peanut Shelling in a positive light when / if asked to serve on various industry membership committees (American Peanut Sheller Association, American Peanut Council, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in the peanut industry, or other relevant field.
  • Strong working knowledge of peanut industry supply chain is preferred.
  • Business-to-business sales experience; strong general business acumen, profit and loss management and analytical and technical skills are preferred.
  • Experience managing relationships with customers and internal stakeholders is preferred.
  • Strong self-initiative, with the ability to operate at a high level with minimum supervision is required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical intelligence.
