What is an associate in science?

An Associate in Science (AS) degree is a two-year undergraduate academic program offered by community colleges and some universities. It focuses on science and math-related courses, preparing students for entry-level positions in technical or scientific fields or for transferring to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree. The curriculum typically includes general education requirements as well as specialized courses in areas like biology, chemistry, or computer science. Earning an AS degree can be a cost-effective pathway to further education and career opportunities in STEM fields.

What entry-level positions are available to someone with an associate in science degree, and how can these roles support career advancement?
