Overview
Shift: 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM (4 days per week - no weekends or holidays)
As a Laboratory Technical Lead, you'll be a key leader behind the science that drives exceptional patient care. In this role, you'll take ownership of the technical operations of your department, leading everything from quality control and method validations to training, regulatory compliance, SME workgroups, and workflow optimization. You'll partner closely with the Laboratory Manager to ensure testing is accurate, timely, and aligned with the highest standards of quality and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Often leads orientation for all employees and students.
  • Assists department leadership with training, competency and providing feedback to technical staff.
  • Uses technical knowledge and ability to manage and resolve issues related to patient orders, results, and collection.
  • Independently exercises judgment in determining work priority and often directs work for others. Interacts with nursing units and clients to ascertain critical priorities, verify discrepancies and problem solve.
  • Prepares biological specimens, arranges and assigns workload by priority.
  • Consistently demonstrates attention to detail in following policies related to proper identification and labeling.
  • Provides accurate laboratory test results within established turnaround time expectations.
Qualifications
Education:
  • Associate degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution OR a Bachelor's in chemical or biological science is required.
    • Must include at least 60 semester hours, or equivalent, from an accredited institution that, at a minimum, include either:
      • 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; or
      • 24 semester hours of science courses that include: 6 semester hours of chemistry; 6 semester hours of biology; and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination
Experience:
  • 1 year of clinical laboratory experience is required.
