Medical Science Liaison, stroke /cardiorenal - Montreal, QC

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) acts as a primary (but not exclusive) point of contact (PPOC) between Bayer and Thought Leaders (TLs) and acts as the scientific expert between Bayer and the medical community to facilitate education and evidence generation.

The MSL - stroke / cardiorenal shall act as a scientific expert and liaison between Bayer and the medical community through the dissemination and education of scientific data and material (including but limited to clinical research, real world evidence and health economic outcomes research). The MSL establishes long-term scientific and strategic relationships with Thought Leaders (TLs) (key, influential health care professionals/ scientists/ stakeholders who are involved in research activities, academic education, clinical guidelines and/or act as experts for reimbursement bodies) as well as with related major medical associations and academic centres. The MSL facilitates TL involvement in international, national, and regional initiatives, including advisory boards, learning programs, Continuing Medical Education (CME), research and publications. The MSL also serves as an important cross-functional internal partner to Bayer by sharing relevant information/ insights from TLs, developing and delivering product and therapeutic area training, and contributing strategic input to market access and research activities.

This is a vacant field-based permanent position, for the province of Quebec, Montreal territory.

What you will do:
  • Exchange and dissemination of scientific educational, and research related information: As the PPOC for assigned TLs, the MSL plans, partners and engages with TLs as a subject matter expert both proactively and reactively via various innovative, omnichannel TL engagement formats (aligned to customer preferences) to disseminate, clarify and educate on scientific data, study protocols, conference abstracts, publications and clinical guidelines. The MSL also collaborates with other field roles (ex. commercial field roles, market access, etc) to ensure the scientific needs of all stakeholders are addressed, as needed. (Both proactive discussions on-label, and reactive discussions for unsolicited off-label questions in alignment with local regulations)
  • Act as primary point of contact (PPOC) for key TLs, responsible for fostering strong partnerships and play the role of ‘trusted advisor’ and ‘conductor’ to shape and synergize to reach win-win outcomes.
  • TL identification, profiling, segmentation and engagement planning: Responsible for executing medical strategy by translating the local medical plan into implementable TL engagement plans in collaboration with cross-functional team and identify synergies with interests of Bayer and the medical community.
  • Responsible for generating TL insights on current clinical practice, beliefs and unmet medical needs, document and communicate them to cross-functional partners to inform agile planning cycles
  • Responsible for keeping abreast with latest scientific research on therapeutic area and developing strong understanding of Bayer’s market strategies and the healthcare landscape (including healthcare systems, competition, regulations, etc) so as to anticipate internal and external stakeholder needs and shape plans accordingly
  • Coordinate and organize scientific learning activities within the therapeutic area, working with TLs and other Bayer partners, as needed
  • Organize and lead regional consultant meetings related to current and evolving clinical practice, ongoing research, pipeline assets and future indications to gather insights and shape go-to-market strategies.
  • Collecting Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) ideas and facilitating IIR set-up: The MSL acts as the PPOC for investigators, facilitating the interface with investigators and appropriate Bayer personnel responsible for approval, and communication of study progress and completion
  • Responsible for supporting medical operations and site management for non-interventional and interventional trials with feasibility, initiation visits and recruitment/ data collection
  • Responsible for training related to disease state, Bayer product and competitor products for internal cross-functional partners within a region/territory and presenting to external stakeholders for market access, medical/clinical operations or commercial activities, as needed
  • Responsible for documenting medical information (MI) queries in alignment with MI handling procedures.
  • Ensure full compliance with company procedure by promptly reporting within 24 hours all adverse events, product quality or product technical complaints, and any other safety-related information
Who you are:
  • Bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree in science-related field eg. MD, PharmD, PhD preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a customer facing medical affairs role or experience in drug information, clinical research and development, or other clinical relevant activities.

The base salary range for this role is between $118,160 and $177,240. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation. Additional benefits may include insured benefits such as health care, vision, dental, disability, and contributory retirement savings plans, etc.

This salary range is an estimate and may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, market data and the applicant’s skills, prior relevant experience, job-related knowledge, specific degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
