Summary Statement
Incumbents tutor individual students to support and reinforce classroom learning activities.
Nature and Scope
Incumbent works under the direction of the Dean, course Instructor, or other person assigned to coordinate tutoring activities. In cooperation with the classroom instructor, incumbents tutor in basic, pre-tech, and/or catalog courses to facilitate an individual student's academic progress.
Principal Accountabilities
An incumbent may perform any combination of the below listed accountabilities:
1. Tutors students on a one-to-one basis and prescribes alternate learning resources.
2. Takes inventory of materials and equipment.
3. Monitors a student's academic progress by utilizing prescribed assessment tools.
4. Attends orientation and training sessions as requested.
5. Completes and submits to supervisor monthly reports of tutoring and related activities.
6. Scheduled tutoring sessions in consideration of the student's needs and availability.
7. Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of relevant subject matter in the discipline in which the student is to be tutored.
Knowledge of learning resources and teaching methods.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Good oral communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in a relevant field or other equivalent combination of education and experience.
