The expected pay (or pay range) for this position is $6,344/month.

The Dr. Gupta Laboratory at the Eye Care Centre in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking a full-time (100% FTE) Research Associate to support and lead research studies investigating the molecular mechanisms and treatment of ocular diseases. The position focuses on the development and implementation of genetic, cellular, and immunological approaches using human samples, stem cell systems, and animal models. The Research Associate will design and conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data, develop new laboratory methods, and contribute to publications and grant applications. The incumbent will also provide supervision and technical guidance to trainees and laboratory personnel.

Responsibilities:

-Design, implement, and manage research projects related to ocular diseases with a focus on cell biology and immunology.

Plan, conduct, and analyze experiments using human primary ocular cells, pluripotent stem cells, tissue, organoid models, as well as animal models.

Analyze, interpret, and compile experimental data and prepare study reports.

Prepare manuscripts, figures, and presentations for publication and dissemination at scientific meetings.

Supporting preparation and submission of grant applications, including budget development.

Draft and edit scientific reports, manuscripts, and related research documentation.

Develop and optimize new assays, experimental protocols, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Maintain and manage laboratory computational resources, including software licensing and database access.

Train, mentor, and supervise laboratory staff, trainees, and co-op students.

Ensure laboratory practices follow institutional policies and research compliance requirements.

Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Successful applicants will have:

PhD or MD in a relevant scientific discipline with a minimum of three years of related research experience,

or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience in research project planning and implementation is required.

Experience in clinical research or clinical trials is considered an asset.

Computer experience required and proficiency in Microsoft office, GraphPad prism, flow Jo, Photoshop, image J and NIS-Elements microscope software.

Proficiency in immunological methods including flow cytometry, cell sorting, ELISA, immunoprecipitation, chromatin immune-precipitation (ChIP), and in vivo cytokine capture assays.

Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one's own.

Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
