Job Description

The Line Producer is responsible for the successful coordination, execution, and timing of live and taped sports programming. The Line Producer oversees preparation and editorial content for broadcast, manages all aspects of the production cycle, field produces as needed, and coordinates with internal support areas. This role supports sports productions across multiple platforms such as; MLB, NFL, NBA, soccer (Mexican, LATAM, International, and U.S. domestic), and other major sports properties relevant to the U.S. Hispanic market.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Meet with Managers to review production schedules and editorial content for upcoming MLB, NFL, NBA, soccer, and other sports linear and non-linear deliverables.
  • Coordinate production and staffing needs for broadcasts, including editing, control room operations, technical production, and art departments.
  • Coordinate with the Digital Production team on the creation and delivery of content pieces and assets, as well as promotional and marketing elements related to assigned sports properties.
  • Review, provide feedback, and/or approve marketing, promotional, and PR/communications materials related to sports productions.
  • Verify sponsored elements and traffic instructions leading up to broadcasts. Coordinate with the Production Manager to ensure all production elements are built and ready for air.
  • Prepare original editorial content for live events, studio shows, and digital extensions, including selecting sound bites and footage to build multi-platform, multi-purpose content.
  • Write and supervise scripts, as well as oversee the editing of stories and game-related content.
  • Meet with show directors, control room crews, and production staff to review show details, production assignments, rundowns, and editorial direction.
  • Meet with on-air talent to review editorial aspects, game coverage, and show flow.
  • Field produce stories and live remote productions, including MLB, NFL, and NBA events, as assigned.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all show elements and understand how they are applied across various sports productions and platforms.
  • Provide story ideas and recommendations to enhance content for linear, digital, and social platforms. Research stories and produce sweeps or special sports series as needed.
  • Prepare scripts and materials for cross-promotional purposes and for use by the Digital Media department and network affiliates.
  • Manage a team of Associate Producers and Production Assistants by assigning tasks, supervising performance, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
  • Must be in the PCR as the executive producer with ultimate creative and managerial authority over a live sports studio show, responsible for shaping the narrative, tone, and production quality.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience producing entertainment or sports television programming
  • 5+ years of Control Room experience, including line producing live and taped programs
  • 6+ years of progressively complex live remote or related production experience
  • Fluent bilingual English/Spanish (written and verbal)
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting, Radio/TV/Film, or equivalent experience
  • Strong working knowledge of INEWS, MS Office, Avid Interplay, and related production tools
  • Solid editing, writing, and production fundamentals
  • Familiarity with production and post-production equipment, software, and formats
  • Ability to line produce and direct a control room technical crew
  • Knowledge of sports content, with emphasis on Mexican & International soccer, U.S. domestic sports, and the U.S. Hispanic market
  • Availability to work a nontraditional schedule (nights, weekends, holidays, overtime)
