Do you have significant experience handling divorce and custody matters?  Do you want to keep handling family law cases but also want the ability to diversify your legal practice, then Ascent Law may be the place for you. 

WHO WE ARE:

Ascent Law is a small firm located in West Jordan that primarily practices in the areas of family law (divorces and custody matters), bankruptcy, criminal law, civil litigation, estate planning and probate.    Our attorneys enjoy a collegial working environment and take a collaborative approach to resolving cases and client matters.  While the position is “in office” we understand there is more to life than billable hours and provide the ability for a work/life balance that allows you to thrive both personally and professionally.   

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Ascent Law has an immediate opening for a motivated associate attorney with 3+ years of family law experience who is willing to continue working on family cases, but who is also looking for the opportunity to diversify their practice.  We want someone who has the ability to step in and take a family law case from start to finish with minimal oversight.  After showing sufficient proficiency in handling family law cases, there will be opportunities to expand your legal practice into the other areas the firm handles, as occasion permits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
  • Active Utah state bar license
  • 3+ years in family law with the ability to navigate cases from start to finish.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to be an efficient and effective communicator with clients, team members and all parties involved.
  • Excellent writing skills including being able to draft various motions, memoranda, and case pleadings.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate resolutions to cases yet be able to handle various hearings and trial when necessary.
  • Willingness to use established systems and practices to efficiently represent clients.
