Participates in the daily activities and operations of the Mount Juliet Distribution Warehouse. Performs an array of functions that include verifying quantity, quality, and labeling of outgoing goods per customer order, ensuring that all customer orders have shipping labels and are packed to customer specs by performing the following duties:

  • selecting and processing materials and cartons
  • picking and filling customer orders from multi-level rack warehouse storage systems
  • organizing and retrieving stock in the warehouse

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Handle routine needs that arise in the shipping department
  • Identify and maintain necessary equipment, tools, and supplies
  • Inspect equipment, perform daily checklist, and communicate any deficiencies to supervision.
  • Continually meet production efficiency levels
  • Maintain quality of work (Accuracy is key)
  • Work independently and in a team environment willing to help in other departments and work overtime when necessary (flexibility is a must)
  • Consistently work scheduled shifts and be on time in order to comply with company attendance policy

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

SHIPPING
  • Pack orders according to customer’s shipping instructions, apply shipping labels, document carton count for outgoing LTL and Truckload customer shipments
  • Prioritize orders based on customer’s expected ship date
  • Communicate with department supervisor, crew leader, and office personnel, ensuring accurate and timely shipment of customer orders
  • When necessary, use a computer to pack customer orders utilizing SAP Warehouse Management
    • Scan each carton
    • Weigh each carton
    • Apply Shipping labels
  • Operate manual pallet jack equipment to maneuver products within the warehouse in a safe and efficient manner

 OTHER

  • Train new associates on the above shipping tasks
  • Sweep and maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Report any unsafe work conditions that might occur
  • Other duties as required

Skills and Conditions of Employment: 

  • Prefer 1-year previous experience packing freight
  • The ability to work the 1st shift work schedule: currently Monday through Friday 6:30AM to 3:00PM CT. This position requires schedule flexibility, as dictated by business demand and available resources including overtime at times 
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be able to pass required OSHA CERTIFIED Written Test
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment basic aptitude driving test
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to communicate effectively with others.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to count accurately and efficiently
