Description

The VP, Ambulatory Pharmacy Operations provides executive-level leadership and strategic direction for ambulatory pharmacy services across Emory Healthcare.

Reporting to the Sr. Vice President of Pharmacy Services, this role is accountable for the full spectrum of ambulatory pharmacy operations - including strategic planning, financial stewardship, clinical program development, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.

The VP partners closely with health system leadership, pharmacy teams, and interdisciplinary stakeholders to advance a high-performing, patient-centered ambulatory pharmacy enterprise that is aligned with Emory Healthcare's mission, quality standards, and growth objectives.

Strategic Planning & Organizational Alignment
  • Assist the Sr. VP of Pharmacy with the development and implementation of pharmacy strategic initiatives designed to optimize patient care and enhance cost effectiveness
  • Participate in the development of pharmacy service strategic and operating plans to ensure alignment with Emory Healthcare priorities
  • Identify and participate in the development of business cases to support ambulatory pharmacy growth
  • Work collaboratively with system pharmacy leadership to ensure strategic and operational planning alignment
Financial Management & Performance Monitoring
  • Inform pharmacy budget planning processes and monitor financial performance in coordination with EHC Finance for ambulatory pharmacy services
  • Participate in the development and execution of monitoring metrics across quality/safety, operational efficiency, clinical effectiveness, and financial performance
Clinical Operations & Program Oversight
  • Oversee implementation of drug use initiatives and pharmacy care management initiatives across the ambulatory pharmacy practice setting
  • Oversee pharmacist-led clinic planning and operations
  • Serve as executive advisor in prioritizing informatics and automation initiatives for the ambulatory setting
  • Ensure implementation of pharmaceutical organizational policies, procedures, and related forms in the ambulatory practice setting
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Provide leadership and direction to pharmacy team members and serve as the primary point of contact with ambulatory operational leadership
  • Manage complex interdepartmental and interdisciplinary relationships to ensure collaboration and effective/efficient operations within ambulatory pharmacy services
Regulatory Compliance & 340B Program
  • Ensure 340B program optimization and compliance
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal and state pharmacy statutory and regulatory provisions, including FDA, DEA, CMS, HRSA, and the Georgia Board of Pharmacy Rules

Additional Duties as Assigned

Travel: Travel between Emory operating units and affiliated sites

Work Type: Hybrid employee - may split time between working remotely and working in the office

Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Degree in Pharmacy required
  • Licensure & Certification: Must be eligible for Georgia Pharmacy Licensure; Georgia license required prior to official start date
  • Minimum of six years of leadership-level experience in a progressive academic medical center or similarly complex health system, with a documented record of success
  • Extensive ambulatory pharmacy experience required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated expertise in federal and state pharmacy statutory and regulatory provisions, including the FDA, DEA, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid statutes and regulations, HRSA, and Georgia Board of Pharmacy Rules
  • Strong strategic planning, financial acumen, and operational management skills
  • Proven ability to lead and influence across complex, matrixed health system environments
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and executive presence
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Pharmacy, Health Services, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • 340B Program knowledge preferred
  • 7 years experience with at least 5 years in a pharmacy leadership position
