As part of the Marketing organization, the Insights team plays a key role in infusing customer insights into business strategy, marketing, innovation, and experience development.
This position is responsible for independently managing research workstreams and serving as a consumer insights consultant to business partners across the organization. Responsible for translating business needs into sound research plans, designing and programming customer surveys and other studies, applying analytic principles to interpret results, and synthesizing findings across multiple data sources into timely, actionable insights. Combines a passion for customers with an analytic approach to examining problems and identifying areas of opportunity.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Leads the development and execution of learning plans for ad hoc and ongoing customer research to understand and promote the voice of the customer and achieve business objectives.

  • Interprets business needs and designs research plans that answer both straightforward and complex problems, including studies that combine multiple methods (e.g., quantitative and qualitative).

  • Applies proficiency across a range of research methods - from foundational quantitative and qualitative techniques to more advanced methodologies - in the design, analysis, interpretation and application of consumer research.

  • Executes analysis and interpretation using established and advanced analytical frameworks to identify patterns, implications, and opportunities, with awareness of the broader business context.

  • Synthesizes multiple data sources to draw out insights and drivers of business performance.

  • Serves as a customer insights consultant to business partners.

  • Owns research projects end to end, from smaller-scale, structured studies through the execution of complex studies - including scoping, objectives, deliverables, timeline, and communication.

  • Collaborates with other data and analytics teams and procures internal resources as needed to support research objectives.

  • Informs ongoing brand tracking, trend watching, competitive intelligence, and consumer perception studies.

  • Crafts cohesive narratives with clearly identified business implications and adjusts communication style to suit stakeholder needs.

  • Performs qualitative customer research, including focus group moderation, customer interviews and intercepts, textual analysis, and in-store ethnography.

  • Operates skillfully within established software platforms, adapts quickly to new tools when introduced, and develops expert-level proficiency in at least one tool within the team's portfolio.

  • Continuously learns and applies new tools and technologies to interpret customer feedback, proactively seeking advantage from new capabilities.

  • Keeps customers at the center of the analytic approach, analysis and solutions, and partners with cross-functional teams to drive a customer-centered focus at Meijer.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
  • Bachelor's Degree in market research, business, psychology, social sciences, or related field. Master's Degree is preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in Customer Insights, Voice of Customer, Market Research, Innovation, UX Research, or related field.

  • Previous CPG, merchandising, and/or retail experience is a plus.

  • Proficiency across a wide array of quantitative and qualitative research tools and methods.

  • Ability to independently scope, design and manage multi-phased or multi-method customer insights engagements.

  • Demonstrated ability with advanced analytics tools.

  • Strong analytical skills to assess, interpret, and translate multiple data sources into actionable shopper/category insights.

  • Experience tailoring communications to different audiences and communicating to multiple brand leadership, cross-functional team members, agency and retail partners, etc.

  • Ability to consult with business partners, clarify ambiguous needs, and connect insights to business objectives.

  • Effective creative problem-solving skills.
