Gross annual base salary: USD 173,000-225,000

Additional variable compensation and benefits may apply. Total compensation is based on experience, skills, and location using objective, job-related criteria.

Summary

We are seeking a Senior User Experience Researcher II to lead and elevate our UX research practice. This is an opportunity to join our UX journey and make a big foundational impact. You should love collaborating and be able to get passionate about improving the usability and overall experience of Finance users working within enterprise software.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess our product landscape and propose a UX Metrics approach.
  • Oversee evaluative and generative research studies, sometimes performing original research, and often enabling others to do so.
  • Define research strategies and methodologies aligned with business goals and product roadmaps.
  • Mentor and guide our associate researcher and our designers in best practices for user research and usability testing, teaching them new methods and giving feedback on their research work.
  • Establish best practices and guardrails for responsible AI use in UX research, including validation of AI-generated outputs, protection of customer data, and clear documentation of research methodology.
  • Collaborate with Design, Engineering, and Product to identify research questions and methods and help solve business and customer needs.
  • Continue building up the long-term panel of customer participants we have started drawing on; oversee logistics and ensure representative samples.
  • Present research findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels, influencing product strategy and design decisions.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning and iteration, advocating for user needs throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support research operations, including tools, templates, and reporting.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Cognitive Psychology, or other related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 9+ years of experience in a UX-related field, including experience in enterprise software or data-heavy applications.
  • Proven track record of leading research projects and influencing product direction, using AI to augment.
  • Experience synthesizing research and developing research materials using AI tools.
  • Advanced communication and problem-solving skills; ability to persuade and educate through research findings and practice.
  • Work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Expertise in a wide range of research methods (usability testing, interviews, surveys, field studies, etc.).
  • Strong logical thinking, empathy, curiosity, and a passion for understanding complex user needs.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Advanced degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Cognitive Psychology, or other related field.
  • Exposure to finance-related enterprise software or data-heavy applications.
  • Deep understanding of product development best practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding of user-centered design and usability principles, including how research supports iterative product design.
  • Ability to independently conduct and synthesize complex research studies, and train others in doing so.
  • Distills user feedback into strategic and actionable insights, that directly inform product decisions and improve user experience.
  • Strong logical thinking and an ability to have an empathetic understanding of finance users who work with large data sets.
  • Advanced presentation skills; able to communicate design concepts and research findings to cross-functional audiences, influencing product strategy and roadmap.
  • Excellent storytelling skills, and ability to uplevel more junior research practioners in this area.
