Job description

Lay the Groundwork for Essential Infrastructure — Join PDS Tech Commercial as a Pipe Layer

Location: Lithia, FL | Payrate: $22- $24 | Schedule: 6am to 5pm

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading construction company to hire a skilled and dependable Pipe Layer. If you take pride in hands-on work, understand the importance of precision below the surface, and want to be part of building critical infrastructure, this role offers a strong opportunity to make a lasting impact.

About the Role & Your Impact

As a Pipe Layer, you will play a vital role in installing underground utility systems that support communities—water, sewer, and storm drainage. Your work ensures these systems are installed safely, accurately, and built to last. You’ll collaborate closely with equipment operators and crew members to deliver high-quality results on every project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install underground piping systems (PVC, ductile iron, RCP, HDPE) to proper line and grade

  • Prepare trench bedding and backfill materials according to specifications

  • Use lasers, levels, and layout tools to ensure accurate pipe placement

  • Align, connect, and secure pipe sections using appropriate methods

  • Cut pipe to required lengths and install valves, fittings, and accessories

  • Follow trench safety protocols and excavation protection standards

  • Communicate effectively with equipment operators and crew during installation

  • Assist with material handling, site preparation, and jobsite cleanup

Required Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in pipelaying or underground utility installation

  • Proficiency in reading grade stakes and using layout tools (pipe lasers, transits, levels)

  • Strong understanding of underground utility practices and safety regulations

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in trenches and varied site conditions

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs regularly

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Trenching and excavation safety training

  • Knowledge of soil conditions, pipe materials, and backfilling techniques

Work Environment

This is a hands-on, field-based role with regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, construction noise, and active job sites. The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and working in trenches or at heights as needed.
