This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval. For example, you may choose to work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly (typically 13 weeks per quarter), leaving 5 additional remote days to be used as needed.
HarbourVest is seeking a highly motivated and experienced senior associate to join our world-class Treasury team. As a Senior Associate at HarbourVest, you will have the unique opportunity to work collaboratively with over 30 dedicated professionals.
As a member of the Treasury team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth trajectory of HarbourVest and play a vital role in achieving our ambitious goals. This position offers significant advancement and personal development opportunities in both the short and long term.
Key Responsibilities
  • Counterparty Risk - Maintain, iterate, and automate a proprietary counterparty risk model, improving data inputs, and new & ongoing reporting to strengthen oversight of the firm's banking and trading relationships.
  • Fund Liquidity Management- Oversee and actively manage the liquidity profile across a portfolio of private equity and private credit funds, ensuring adequate coverage for capital calls, deal funding, and operational obligations.
  • Drive Treasury Automation - Support and lead automation initiatives that build scalability into the Treasury function, reducing manual effort and positioning the team for future growth in AUM and transaction volume.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally - Partner closely with third-party administrators, custody banks, and internal stakeholders (Fund Accounting, Operations, and Deal Teams) to ensure seamless execution and data integrity.
  • Support Treasury oversight and guidance during the operational build-out of new products, encompassing both in-house and third-party administrator (TPA) workflows
  • Uphold Fiduciary Standards - Act as a fiduciary on behalf of our clients in every process, embedding strong controls, accuracy, and risk awareness into day-to-day Treasury operations.

Required Qualifications
  • Sophisticated Excel & VBA - High proficiency in Excel, including modeling, with demonstrated ability to build and maintain VBA-based tools and macros that automate recurring workflows.
  • Power BI Expertise - Experience designing and maintaining Power BI dashboards to deliver actionable insight into liquidity, risk, and Treasury KPIs.
  • PowerPoint Proficiency - Strong PowerPoint skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, executive-level presentations for senior management.
  • Analytical & meticulous - Attention to detail and a structured, analytical approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic Curiosity - A natural inclination to think beyond the immediate task. It includes the ability to connect routine Treasury activities to the broader business context and ask the right questions to drive continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Snowflake Experience (Plus) - Prior hands-on experience with Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms is a strong advantage.
  • Industry Background - Background in private equity, private credit, or alternative asset management Treasury operations.
  • Automation Mentality - Familiarity with additional automation tools (e.g., Power Automate, Python) and a passion for driving efficiency through technology.
  • AI - Ability to implement AI into daily workflows either through data modeling research, automation initiatives or agentic workflows.

Base Salary Range:
$100,000 - $110,000
This USD base salary range represents only one component of total compensation for this role and is provided in accordance with local requirements. This role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, which is determined based on individual and overall firm performance. In addition to salary and bonus, total compensation may include eligibility for long-term reward programs and a comprehensive total rewards package that may include retirement, health, insurance, paid time off, and wellness programs. Our total rewards offerings are influenced by several business factors, and eligibility for certain components will vary by position and geography. Please note the posted ranges do not apply outside the U.S. and should not be converted to other currencies as a proxy for compensation in other countries.
