Test Technician
Hours & Shift Options
  • 1st Shift: 6AM - 2:30PM Monday-Friday
  • 2nd Shift: 2PM - 12:30AM Monday-Thursday
  • Lunch: 30-minute unpaid break
  • Shift assignment determined based on business needs and experience
  • Note: 2nd shift will need to be available to train on 1st shift.

Pay & Employment Path
  • Pay Rate: $25.00-$30.00 per hour (based on experience and skill level)

Position Overview
The Test Technician plays a critical role in the final validation of complex electrical power and control systems. This position is responsible for testing newly developed and standard production equipment to ensure performance, safety, and compliance prior to shipment. The role requires strong electrical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Work is performed in a structured manufacturing environment where testing is a key step in the overall process of wiring, assembly, inspection, testing, staging, and shipping of large-scale power systems.
Job Responsibilities
  • Inspect and test electrical and electronic power equipment, including transformers and circuit breakers
  • Troubleshoot AC and DC power and control circuits up to 600V
  • Operate a wide range of test instruments and equipment
  • Perform limited repairs to control, power, and fiber optic assemblies, including crimping and routing
  • Program and interface electronic devices with computer systems and software
  • Complete detailed test reports and documentation using computer systems
  • Support testing of newly developed products as well as standard production units
  • Follow all electrical safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out protocols

Work Environment
  • Exposure to live circuits and voltages up to 600V
  • Moderate noise levels from load banks during testing
  • Some heat generated during load testing
  • Physical activity including standing, bending, lifting, crouching, crawling, and climbing
  • Occasional use of step ladders to access cabinet components

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or minimum of 2 years' experience in the power industry
  • Proficiency using voltmeters and current meters
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs
  • Experience using and maintaining electrical PPE
  • Knowledge of lock-out/tag-out and standard electrical safety practices
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel and Word

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with electrical assembly and wiring
  • Electrical troubleshooting of components and electronic systems
  • Familiarity with measurement tools
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills
  • Clear verbal and written communication abilities
  • Basic programming knowledge
  • Small hand tool experience
  • General knowledge of NEC code
