Job Summary

Nuclear Power has played an important role in meeting the world's electrical energy needs for 50+ years.  With power demand rising dramatically in the decades ahead, Nuclear Power will be indispensable in meeting the concurrent challenges of Reliability and Affordability while also limiting air pollution. 

To help ensure that its four nuclear power stations are ready to meet the challenges ahead, Dominion Energy is investing billions of dollars to update and upgrade key equipment at each site.  These improvements are generally large in scale and complexity and require exceptional project management to be implemented with excellence.  To help ensure that the Nuclear Projects Team has the most productive tools to execute their essential work, the department is actively seeking a Business Technology Consultant.

The Business Technology Consultant serves as a technical expert and individual contributor responsible for driving organized and effective requirements to build both projects and products. This individual provides technical consulting, acting as a business specialist and technology generalist, devising and modifying procedures to solve complex technical problems related to systems. The Business Technology Consultant will create detailed requirements from which specifications will be written, aligning technology solutions with business strategies. 

More specifically the Business Technology Consultant:

  • Serves as the recognized subject matter expert to lead the identification, evaluation, and implementation of emerging technologies to modernize nuclear project execution across the fleet.
  • Drives the development of integrated systems that enhances the management, reporting, and interpretation of large-scale capital project data in alignment with industry standards.
  • Leads enterprise-wide efforts to evaluate and prioritize high-impact use cases, replacing legacy systems and fragmented reporting processes with scalable, standardized solutions, specifically project management, finance, work management, scheduling).
  • Partners with internal IT and external technology providers (e.g., Oracle, Snowflake) to design and deploy next-generation platforms that enable real-time data accessibility, advanced analytics, and AI-driven decision support.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between Nuclear Projects and IT to advance AI strategy and implementation, leveraging machine learning and data architecture solutions to analyze complex datasets, identify trends, and inform strategic actions.
  • Ensures alignment of technology initiatives with business objectives while preventing duplication of systems and tools across the nuclear fleet-delivering a unified, efficient digital environment that maximizes enterprise value.
  • Advises senior leadership on technology strategy, prioritization, and long-term system architecture.
  • Leads the development of business cases, scope definition, benchmarking, and implementation roadmaps for major initiatives.
  • Oversees cross-functional teams and vendor partnerships, assigning responsibilities, managing resources, and ensuring execution against established timelines, budgets, and performance expectations.
  • Drives innovation through active engagement with internal stakeholders and external industry groups (e.g., EPRI, NEI, INPO Data Science Working Group), representing Dominion Energy in collaborative efforts to advance nuclear data strategy and digital capabilities.

In all aspects of their role, the Business Technology Consultant will be expected to establish and grow productive partnerships with a variety of stakeholders.  They will need to communicate with precision and persistence to advance key projects.  They will need to strike an effective balance between the future vision and immediate functional tools.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:

  • Bachelor's degree and seven (7) or more years of work experience that is directly related to the analysis, selection, and implementation of technology systems, or
  • Associate degree and 9 years of work experience that is directly related to the analysis, selection, and implementation of technology systems, or
  • HS Diploma and 11 years of work experience that is directly related to the analysis, selection, and implementation of technology systems.

Additionally, qualified candidates must possess:

  • Demonstrated business systems analysis experience in large-scale platforms and environments to include: Maximo, Primavera/P6, Power Bi, SharePoint, SAP, AI tools, and Data warehousing platforms such as Oracle.
  • Demonstrated experience and success working across multiple hardware and software platforms
  • Demonstrated experience and success working closely across business units, to include corporate IT, in the development and implementation of large-scale systems
  • Demonstrated competency in verbal, written, and presentation communications, interpersonal understanding.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees, influence and impact others, develop others, and achieve results through others
  • Proven ability to research and understand customer issues and translate those into technical solutions and action items
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence in the Information Technology team's knowledge of and concern for the customer's business needs
  • Strong organization and planning skills, including coordination of assigned projects, planning, scheduling, and time management
  • Proven ability to handle multiple deadlines and associated pressures
  • Experience in adaptation to, and application of, rapidly changing technology to business needs
  • Ability to work independently, maintain self-control, and have a strong achievement orientation and concern for quality
  • Expert knowledge of digital domains, products, and user journeys, significant experience with management and prioritization of the product backlog

  • Microsoft Power Apps
  • Snowflake

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred level of education:
