Key Responsibilities
The Tech Support Specialist 3 performs advanced technical work that requires independent judgment, initiative, and a strong understanding of complex IT systems. This role supports, maintains, troubleshoots, and enhances the office's technology infrastructure.
This is an at-will position.
Key Responsibilities
• Independently diagnose and resolve advanced technical issues involving hardware, software, operating systems, networks, servers, cloud services, telecommunications, storage systems, mobile devices, and security technologies.
• Plan, implement, configure, administer, and optimize IT systems and services to ensure reliability, performance, and security.
• Evaluate existing and emerging technologies, identify office needs, and recommend solutions related to hardware, software, network infrastructure, security, and overall technology lifecycle management.
• Serve as a senior technical resource and escalation point for office staff and tech support personnel.
• Administer and support core systems including:
o Network infrastructure
o Windows servers and Active Directory
o Microsoft 365 and Azure
o Virtual desktop systems
o VPN services
o Storage and backup systems and archival workflow
o Mobile device managment
o Network cameras and physical network hardware
o Conference room technology and end-user devices
• Lead or participate in technical projects such as system implementations, upgrades, migrations, and technology deployments.
• Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to junior support staff. Coordinate work with vendors, contractors, and other technical resources.
• Monitor systems and infrastructure to identify performance, availability, capacity, configuration, and security issues and take corrective action.
• Analyze recurring technical incidents to identify root causes and implement permanent or preventative solutions.
• Work with limited supervision, evaluating complex technical issues, prioritizing multiple tasks, and implementing solutions that balance security, reliability, performance, operational needs, and cost.
• Handle sensitive and confidential information while maintaining strict security, access controls, and data protection practices.
• Participate in the development and implementation of technical standards, procedures, configurations, and best practices.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, configuration records, procedures, inventories, and knowledge-base resources.
• Participate in emergency response, disaster recovery, business continuity, and technology recovery activities.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies, cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry practices and recommend improvements when appropriate.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent educational and/or professional experience
  • At least five years of experience in Information Technology
  • Experience with managing Windows Servers
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud Services
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 environment
  • Experience with iPhone, iPad, and Android devices
  • Knowledge of backups and backup principles
  • Knowledge of Windows Active Directory
  • Troubleshooting, repairing, or upgrading computer hardware, including Windows and Mac laptops
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat DC (preferred)
