Job description

About Rune

Rune Technologies builds mission-critical software for military logistics and sustainment. Our flagship product is TyrOS, an AI-enabled logistics command and control platform that gives commanders a single, real-time operating picture of their sustainment fight, from inventory and distribution to medical and operational planning, even in degraded and contested environments.

We're not a traditional defense contractor. We're a small, fast-moving team that combines deep operational experience in and with the DoD with the software discipline of the best product companies, and we apply that combination to a customer set that desperately needs it. We stay close to our users by embedding directly with military units during exercises and rotations, and we ship constantly based on what we learn.

The U.S. military and its allies face a real logistics modernization problem. We're building the software to solve it.

About the Role

At Rune Technologies, we are building the logistics technology backbone that the U.S. and allied militaries need to dominate in large-scale combat operations. As a Front End Software Engineer at Rune, you will be part of a high-impact team working at the intersection of modern web engineering, operational logistics software, and mission-critical user experiences -- all in support of the warfighter at the tactical edge.

We are hiring an Associate Technical Recruiter to help build the team powering Rune’s next stage of growth. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role for an early-career recruiter who has developed strong recruiting fundamentals and wants to grow quickly in a high-performing environment.

You will support and manage recruiting across technical and mission-critical roles, with a particular focus on software engineering and product hiring. You’ll work closely with the Head of Talent, hiring managers, and the broader recruiting team to evaluate candidates, manage hiring processes, maintain strong candidate engagement, and move searches forward with urgency.

This is not primarily a sourcing role—we have dedicated sourcing support. Your focus will be on candidate qualification, process management, candidate experience, and developing the judgment necessary to identify and close exceptional talent.
This role reports directly to the Head of Talent and is ideal for someone with 1–3 years of recruiting experience who is organized, ambitious, comfortable working at a fast pace, and eager to develop into a highly capable technical recruiter.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage recruiting processes across multiple open roles, primarily within engineering, product, and other technical functions.

  • Conduct initial candidate screens and assess candidates against role requirements.

  • Guide candidates through the recruiting process from first conversation through accepted offer.

  • Partner closely with hiring managers to maintain momentum, gather timely feedback, and keep searches on track.

  • Develop a strong understanding of Rune’s technical roles, including the skills, backgrounds, and experiences that make candidates successful.

  • Deliver a high-quality, responsive, and professional candidate experience throughout the hiring process.

  • Support offer strategy, candidate closing, and negotiations alongside the Head of Talent.

  • Maintain accurate candidate pipelines and recruiting activity in Ashby or a similar ATS.

  • Identify scheduling, process, or pipeline issues and proactively drive them toward resolution.

  • Contribute to improvements in recruiting processes, candidate experience, and team operations.

  • Support broader recruiting coordination and onboarding efforts as needed.

Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of recruiting experience, ideally within an agency, startup, or other fast-paced recruiting environment.

  • Experience recruiting for software engineering, product, or other technical roles strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of recruiting fundamentals and candidate management.

  • Ability to conduct effective candidate screens and build sound candidate-assessment judgment.

  • Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple searches and candidate processes simultaneously.

  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to build trusted relationships with candidates and hiring managers.

  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change quickly.

  • High ownership, responsiveness, curiosity, and willingness to learn.

Nice to Have
  • Technical recruiting agency experience.

  • Experience recruiting software engineers across backend, frontend, full-stack, infrastructure, AI/ML, or related disciplines.

  • Experience recruiting product managers or other technical product roles.

  • Startup or high-growth company experience.

  • Experience in defense, national security, government technology, or security-cleared recruiting.

  • Familiarity with Ashby or a similar applicant tracking system.

What Success Looks Like

First 90 days: Build a strong understanding of Rune’s roles, technical profiles, and recruiting standards; independently manage key portions of the recruiting process; and contribute to successful technical hires.
6–12 months: Independently manage multiple searches, consistently move strong candidates through the process, develop trusted relationships with hiring managers, and contribute approximately 1–2 hires per month during periods of active hiring.
Over time: Develop deeper technical recruiting expertise, stronger candidate-assessment and closing skills, and increasing ownership of searches from kickoff through accepted offer.

Why Join Rune
  • Build your technical recruiting career alongside an experienced talent team.

  • Recruit exceptional people working on high-impact, mission-critical problems.

  • Gain exposure to software engineering, product, AI, and other highly technical searches.

  • Work directly with hiring managers and company leadership.

  • Focus on candidate assessment, process management, and closing rather than high-volume sourcing.

  • Take meaningful ownership early and grow quickly as Rune scales.

  • Competitive compensation and meaningful equity.

Benefits

Rune offers top-tier benefits for full-time employees to include a full suite of insurance options at no cost for employees and low-cost to spouses and dependents.
