Job Summary:

The SAP Technical Manager will lead the SAP technical team, ensuring high-quality SAP solutions are architected, developed, and delivered while aligning with business goals and enterprise architecture.
Responsibilities:
• Anticipate business and technical needs, aligns SAP architecture with organizational goals, and drives long-term technical SAP roadmap
• Demonstrate deep technical knowledge of SAP technologies, modules, interfaces, performance tuning, and integrations
• Define and drive technical approaches within the solution scope: coding standards, integration patterns, extensions, and custom objects
• Provide recommendations for technical performance optimization, sizing, and deployment methods
• Escalate major architecture or platform decisions to the technology leadership for approval or alignment
• Build, mentor, and empowers the technical team; delegates effectively; fosters a culture of continuous learning, accountability and excellence
• Engage with business stakeholders, functional leads, project managers and technical teams
• Own end-to-end delivery of the SAP technical workstreams from design through build, integration, testing, deployment and support, ensuring timelines, budget and quality goals are met
• Identify technical risks and dependencies early, drive mitigation strategies, adapt to evolving requirements as appropriate
• Focus on reliability, performance, scalability and maintainability of the SAP environment
• Drive continuous improvements, standards, automation, and DevOps best practices
• Drive the technical roadmap for SAP (e.g., enhancements, integrations, custom developments, AI capabilities, and emerging SAP technologies)
• Lead the technical architecture and design of SAP landscape, ensuring alignment with business strategy and enterprise-wide objectives
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of SAP S/4HANA customizations, enhancements, and integrations
• Architect and code complex ABAP programs, including BADIs, BAPIs, enhancements, Fiori/UI5 extensions, and BTP jobs
• Create and enforce SAP development standards, perform code reviews, and ensure solution performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Oversee technical integration across modules and systems, leveraging SAP BTP, APIs, and middleware solutions (e.g., SAP PO/CPI)
• Perform functional configuration within core S/4HANA modules (e.g., FI/CO, MM, SD, PP, EWM, or others based on expertise)
• Translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications
• Support solution design workshops, process mapping, testing cycles, and defect resolution
• Ensure solution alignment with SAP standard functionality and S/4HANA best practices to minimize custom footprint
• Serve as the primary liaison between business process owners, functional consultants, and technical developers
• Support project managers in defining scope, timelines, and resource needs for technical workstreams
• Drive adherence to development governance, release management, and transport control processes
• Provide mentorship and direction to junior ABAP developers and functional analysts
• Partner with enterprise architecture and data governance teams to ensure solution consistency and data integrity
• Support operational teams during production support, problem resolution, and change management
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in SAP technical roles (development, architecture, integration) with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or lead-technical role
• Proven experience designing and delivering end-to-end SAP S/4HANA solutions—from blueprint to production support
• Strong understanding of S/4HANA data models, Fiori architecture, and extensibility concepts (In-App and Side-by-Side)
• Demonstrated ability to work across functional and technical boundaries to deliver integrated solutions
• Strong technical expertise with SAP technologies (e.g., ABAP/Objects, SAP NetWeaver, SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP Fiori/UI5, IDocs, BAPIs, ALE, PI/PO/Cloud Integration) and experience with full lifecycle SAP implementations (including upgrades, migrations and integrations)
• Solid experience of SAP technical architecture, system landscape, performance tuning, data migration, integration and technical operations
• Proven track record of leading and mentoring technical teams, managing offshore/on-site resources, and delivering high-quality solutions on time and within budget
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills: ability to engage with business sponsors, functional teams and technical staff, translating complex technical topics into business language
• Experience with Agile, Scrum and/or hybrid delivery methodologies; competent in technical planning, estimation and tracking
• Strong problem-solving skills, technical risk management, determination to deliver in a dynamic environment
Preferred:
• SAP certification(s)
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., SAP Cloud Platform)
• DevOps tools and practices
• Ability to adapt to evolving SAP technology stack
