Job description

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for Electrical Engineer 2/3 opportunities in Los Alamos, NM, to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Per diem available for those who qualify.
Work Location: 100% onsite - TA-35
Group/Organization: Plutonium Rapid Response Team
Work Schedule: This role may require a weekend-shift schedule:
After completion of a training period, employees may work Friday-Monday, 10-hour shifts
The training period will follow a Tuesday-Friday 10-hour shift schedule.
Shift/weekend assignments are determined by management based on operational needs.
Summary:
The Electrical Engineer will perform a full range of design engineering responsibilities in support of facility design, operation, and maintenance activities. This role requires applying broad and diversified knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and DOE-complex requirements.
Responsibilities:
Performs all aspects of work in engineering operations within discipline.
Perform conventional engineering design, analysis, and calculations.
Provides system integration within and across disciplines.
Provides construction and project support.
May provide direction to technicians.
Develop, review, and support engineering design packages.
Provide construction, field, and project engineering support.
Work independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-discipline team.
Apply engineering technology and tools to deliver high-quality work.
Interface with stakeholders across disciplines in a fast-paced environment.
Continuously improves work processes to meet customer needs.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
Minimum 3 years (level 2) or 8 years (level 3) of relevant engineering experience aligned with the responsibilities above.
Familiarity with low power, <480.
Working knowledge of industry, regulatory, and DOE/NNSA codes, standards, and criteria relevant to electrical engineering.
Proven knowledge of commonly applied codes and standards at DOE and DoD facilities (e.g., NQA 1, IBC, NFPA, NEC).
Prior experience facilitating and developing engineering design packages.
Familiarity with typical engineering deliverables (e.g., construction documents).
Experience with computer aided design/drafting software or markup tools.
Design experience in Power with construction documentation and specs.
Software knowledge: conductor sizing, conduit sizing, and junction boxes.
Experience with mitigating the field and the ability to access the plant and walk around.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE Q Security Clearance.
