Advanced IT Concepts (AITC) is a fast-growing Information Technology company specializing in Network and Systems Engineering, Integration, Professional Services, Medical Simulation, Test and Training Systems, and End-to-End Product and Technology Solutions. We deliver expert support in Information Systems Design and Cybersecurity, Strategic Planning, Program and Project Management, Security Risk Assessment, and Logistics for Federal, State and Local Government and public sector market.

Position Summary: We are seeking a Security Systems Administrator with 2–7 years of hands-on experience supporting, securing, and maintaining enterprise systems, network infrastructure, and cloud-based environments. This role is responsible for administering security tools, monitoring system health, supporting incident response activities, and helping ensure that systems are configured and operated in accordance with security best practices, organizational policies, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, monitor, and maintain security systems, servers, endpoints, and network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Support the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of security tools such as firewalls, endpoint protection, vulnerability scanners, logging platforms, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access management solutions.
  • Monitor security alerts, system logs, and operational dashboards to identify potential threats, misconfigurations, or performance issues.
  • Assist with incident response activities, including triage, investigation, containment, remediation, and documentation of security events.
  • Implement and maintain security baselines, patching processes, hardening standards, and configuration management practices.
  • Support cloud security operations, including identity and access management, security group configuration, logging, monitoring, encryption, and secure resource deployment.
  • Assist with vulnerability management efforts, including scanning, tracking remediation, validating fixes, and reporting status to technical and leadership teams.
  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, security procedures, change records, diagrams, and operational runbooks.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, security analysts, cloud teams, and application owners to strengthen the organization’s overall security posture.
  • Participate in audits, compliance reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • 2–7 years of experience in systems administration, security administration, network administration, cloud operations, cybersecurity operations, or a related technical role.
  • Working knowledge of information security principles, system hardening, access control, vulnerability management, patch management, and incident response.
  • Experience supporting Windows and/or Linux server environments, endpoint systems, and enterprise IT infrastructure.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, routing, switching, firewalls, and network segmentation.
  • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or similar cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud security concepts, including identity and access management, logging and monitoring, encryption, secure configuration, shared responsibility models, and cloud-native security tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, analyze logs, document findings, and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications and Certifications
  • CompTIA Security+ certification preferred.
  • CompTIA Network+ certification preferred.
  • Cloud certifications preferred, such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate, Google Cloud Digital Leader, or Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer.
  • Experience with security information and event management tools, endpoint detection and response platforms, cloud security posture management tools, or vulnerability management platforms.
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks or security standards such as NIST, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience supporting hybrid environments that include both on-premises infrastructure and public cloud services.
Technical Skills
  • Systems administration: Windows Server, Linux, Entra ID, Group Policy, endpoint management, patching, and backups.
  • Security operations: Purview, Intune, vulnerability scanning, log analysis, incident response support, endpoint protection, access reviews, and security monitoring.
  • Networking: firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.
  • Cloud technology: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, cloud identity and access management, secure configuration, cloud logging, and cloud monitoring.
  • Documentation: standard operating procedures, technical diagrams, configuration records, incident notes, and audit support materials.
Education

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of technical training, certifications, and relevant work experience may be considered.

This position may require participation in after-hours support, scheduled maintenance windows, incident response activities, or on-call rotation depending on business needs.
