Job Description:

We are seeking aTool and Die Shop to join our AMF South site location. Responsible for fabricating, building, handling, repairing and integrating complex parts, assemblies and machines normally used in engineering prototypes, one of a kind product or low volume manufacturing. Provides highly skilled labor for extremely tight or critical tolerances. Hardware is fabricated and assembled using engineering standards and is oftentimes considered fragile, high precision, highly sensitive and of high value. May interface engineers in prototyping and optimizing assembly processes and procedures for manufacturability. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. May require handling knowledge such as use of overhead cranes and equipment and rigging best practices. May design and fabricate manufacturing assembly aids and tooling. May lead and manage multiple builds and assemblies.

Essential Functions:

Set up, manage, and maintain a prototype/tooling machine shop with manual lathes, mills, and inspection equipment.
Keep the shop clean, organized, and process work orders per schedule or Engineering direction.
Order cutters, consumables, and inspection tools to ensure full shop capability within budget.
Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, tool orders, and engineering documents to plan fabrication steps.
Lay out part dimensions and tooling points using shop math, geometry, and trigonometry.
Set up and operate hand tools, manual machines, and NC mills and lathes.
Fabricate, assemble, and proof molds, jigs, fixtures, dies, and inspection tools using various metals and plastics.
Inspect inprocess and finished parts using precision measurement tools and record data in the ERP system.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant tool maker experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related tool maker experience.
