In this role, the individual will be part of the Software Test team conducting software/hardware integration testing and formal qualification test (FQT) of Aerial Refueling and Mission System Software with a focus on leadership, quality, process improvement, tool improvement and test automation.

We are seeking an individual that is passionate about aerospace and excited to work in a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment that supports the design, development, and implementation of software for existing and emerging government and international programs.

The Boeing KC-46 "Pegasus" is the new US Air Force aerial refueling tanker aircraft designed to support multi-role missions including refueling, cargo/passenger transport, and medevac airlift. The KC-46 is a military commercial derivative aircraft based on the Boeing 767-2C aircraft and modified per US Air Force specifications for the primary mission of aerial refueling US and Allied aircraft. The KC-46 is equipped with self-protection, defensive and communication systems making it more survivable in a contested environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports the design, development, and completion of test and verification of software products to ensure quality, reliability, and functionality.

  • Participates in partnering with stakeholders to review and identify software requirements, test objectives, test strategies, and testability.

  • Supports designing test plans, cases, and scenarios to meet software requirements and specifications.

  • Contributes to the set up and configuration of test environments, including hardware, software, and network configurations to replicate production environments.

  • Supports executing test cases and scenarios to verify functionality, performance, and safety of software systems, identifying and reporting defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities found during testing processes.

  • Contributes to providing test results and feedback on software design and functionality to resolve defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities.

  • Supports creating, documenting, and maintaining test plans, procedures, cases, artifacts, metrics, and data in accordance with data privacy and security protocols and standards.

  • Supports developing and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks to improve efficiency and effectiveness of testing processes.

  • Contributes to software project management functions across test and verification activities involving multifunctional teams.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering discipline or 4+ years equivalent related experience

  • 2 or more years of experience designing and developing software test plans, test cases, and test procedures

  • 2 or more years of experience executing software test procedures/cases

  • Ability to obtain Final Post Start Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in software development using languages such as C, C++, Java, or Ada

  • Experience using team collaboration tools including GitLab, Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence

  • Experience in software development processes in compliance with established internal and industry standards, guidelines, and best practices in the development, testing, and deployment of software

  • Knowledge of verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements

  • Knowledge of appropriate customer or governmental regulations relevant to design, test, and certification (e.g., DO-178B/C)

  • Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle

  • Knowledge of the full software development life cycle (requirements, design, code, test and certification)
