Job description

Field Service Technician

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Field Service Technician to join our team. This hands-on position is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining Sligo Systems' Visual Compliance Monitoring System (VCMS™) and related equipment at customer facilities across the United States. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, mechanically and electrically inclined, and enjoys traveling to solve technical challenges while providing exceptional service.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites throughout the U.S. to perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of SCADA equipment and related systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, networking, and control system issues both onsite and remotely
  • Install, configure, and test, sensors, communication equipment, control panels, and associated hardware
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and system performance evaluations
  • Train customers on proper operation and basic maintenance of installed systems
  • Document service activities, repairs, and recommendations through detailed service reports
  • Coordinate with internal technical support and engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and service vehicle in a clean and organized condition
  • Follow all customer site safety requirements and company safety procedures
  • Assist with system testing, equipment preparation, and technical support at the office when not traveling
  • Provide professional, courteous customer service while representing Sligo Systems in the field
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support customers as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or technical training in electrical, electronics, industrial maintenance, instrumentation, or related field preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in field service, industrial maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, controls, instrumentation, or related technical field
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, low-voltage and high-voltage wiring, and basic networking concepts
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and technical documentation
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage travel schedules
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely on ladders and around industrial equipment
  • Willingness to travel frequently throughout the United States, including overnight travel

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed at customer facilities, including landfills and other industrial environments, as well as in the office when not traveling
  • Frequent travel by vehicle and air, including overnight stays
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment
  • Position may require climbing ladders, walking uneven terrain, and standing for extended periods
  • Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and required when working onsite

Sligo Systems is a full-service systems integrator providing engineering services and fabrication of custom industrial automation and process systems for a wide range of applications in Municipal Solid Waste, Oil & Gas, and Water & Wastewater markets. Project implementation involves a variety of equipment manufacturers, software packages, process and network architectures, and includes HMIs, PLCs and associated components from all major OEMs.
