Join a collaborative engineering team building scalable, cloud-based applications and services using modern Python technologies. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and support of backend systems and APIs using Python and FastAPI, while helping build event-driven solutions with Kafka. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing software in AWS and/or GCP environments. This is a strong opportunity for a mid-level developer to expand cloud and distributed systems expertise while contributing to meaningful, production-grade solutions.

What you will do:

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend applications and services using Python and FastAPI
  • Build and support RESTful APIs and microservices that are scalable, secure, and maintainable
  • Develop and maintain event-driven and message-based integrations using Kafka
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, DevOps engineers, QA, and other developers to deliver technical solutions aligned with business needs
  • Participate in application design discussions, technical implementation planning, and code reviews
  • Troubleshoot application issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement effective fixes across distributed systems
  • Support cloud-native application deployment and operations in AWS and/or GCP
  • Write clean, efficient, well-documented code following software engineering best practices and team standards
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release processes
  • Assist with system monitoring, performance tuning, reliability improvements, and production support activities
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for services, APIs, integrations, and support processes
  • Continuously learn and apply new tools, frameworks, and engineering practices to improve delivery and solution quality

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience developing applications in Python
  • Experience building APIs or backend services using FastAPI or similar Python web frameworks
  • Experience working with Kafka or other messaging/event-streaming platforms
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS and/or GCP
  • Understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful API design, and distributed systems concepts
  • Experience with source control tools such as Git
  • Familiarity with software testing, debugging, and performance optimization
  • Experience working in Agile or similar collaborative development environments
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver quality work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience deploying and supporting applications in AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools in cloud-native environments
