What are we looking for?
WCI, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test who will design, develop and maintain automation frameworks, continued evaluation of test cases for inclusion in test regression. You will be working with WCI, Inc. partners and the engineering and product teams to ensure quality development and quality of our application.
What will you do?
Specific duties and responsibilities include creating, maintaining and executing automation test plans, writing test code against software platforms, analyzing and communicating test results, defect tracking and participation in day-to-day Quality Assurance (QA) activities, and contribute to the company's performance and scalability testing efforts.
  • Evaluate software application deployments for errors and stability.
  • Architect, build, and maintain automated testing frameworks and tools using programming languages such as JavaScript.
  • Design, write, execute, and debug automated scripts for UI, API, and back-end database testing and identify system flaws.
  • Perform manual and automated testing strategies.
  • Integrate the automated testing into our CI/CD pipelines.
  • Write code to improve the overall testability of the software.
  • Collaborate with software developers to focus on test-driven development.
  • Define, measure, and analyze quality metrics. Analyze trends to identify patterns or changes that could impact product delivery. Communicate test results and defect tracking.
  • Conduct root cause analysis when issues or defects are identified.
  • Design and execute performance, load and security tests to simulate real-world traffic to prevent performance issues with the application.
  • Configure and manage test environments, maintain test data, and troubleshoot test failures to differentiate between real software bugs and not valid test cases.
  • Mentor the team and individuals on best automation practices, design and implementation.
  • Conduct exploratory testing.
  • Track testing progress.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with diverse cross-functional teams and stakeholders to define testing objectives, scope, and priorities.
  • Assist WCI, Inc. IT Product Managers and jurisdiction leads in planning, executing, and monitoring testing.
  • Perform other relevant tasks as assigned by the management team.

What skills and knowledge should you bring?
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent job experience.
  • Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented programming.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard test automation framework tools like Selenium and Playwright.
  • Experience with pipelines (such as GitHub and Jenkins) and containerization (such as Docker).
  • Proven track record of standing up software testing automation in a project from the ground up and has owned the full automation lifecycle.
  • Proficiency with automated testing types (Unit, Functional, Load, Security, Integration, End-to-End).
  • Understanding of web technologies, including web services, web application servers and RESTful APIs.
  • Possess strong analytical and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive self-starter who is comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment with product teams from diverse backgrounds in different geographic locations.
