Job description

Morgan Stanley Investment Management Technology exclusively partners with the Morgan Stanley Investment Management business division to design and develop systems and integrate vendor products to globally support full life cycle business processing. Activities include Portfolio Analysis, Risk, Trading, Operations, and Sales & Marketing. Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) Technology also provides holistic support and quality assurance across the suite of applications used in the MSIM environment.
Opportunity with the team
Morgan Stanley is seeking a full stack developer to join the Sustainability Front Office Technology team. The individual will work as part of the global development team, which is spread across 4 MSIM sites. The individual will help the team design, develop a modern technology stack to power our digital platforms aimed unlocking efficiencies for our Investment Teams. As a front office developer, the individual will also work closely with the Sustainability team to solve operational problems and design strategic solutions to offer various Environmental, Social and Governance metrics to our Investment teams.
We work with the following technologies:

  • Backend technologies - Core Java / Spring Boot

  • Frontend technologies - Angular

  • Linux / Cloud Stack / Docker / Kubernetes

  • Build tooling - Jenkins / Gradle

  • Database technologies -NoSQL MongoDB / Snowflake


What you'll do in the role:

  • Designing and developing modern and modular web applications using modern coding and testing standards.

  • Participating in our agile ceremonies and actively driving towards the team's goals.

  • Working independently using modern software development practices.

  • Working collaboratively with a global team of technologists.

  • Leading with ideas and innovation.

  • Managing communication and partnering with our end users (Sustainability team) to design solutions.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Experience developing enterprise JAVA/Angular Web applications.

  • Solid experience designing web-based components.

  • Solid experience writing unit, component and integration tests.

  • Solid experience working with relational database.

  • Knowledge of working with JavaScript or equivalent web technologies.

  • Basic understanding of financial markets and various financial instruments.

  • Strong computer science fundamentals.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $125,000 and $135,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
