Job Summary
The Customer Service Associate will act as an ambassador for the university and serve as a primary point of contact for students, faculty and staff by providing information related to vehicle registration, parking passes, rules and regulations, and parking citations. The Associate will also assist visitors in complying with the traffic and parking regulations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists customers with vehicle registration and resolves issues related to billing, permits, boots, tows and other citations.
- Process manual data entry for vehicle registrations and citations when necessary, and maintains weekly and monthly reports related to permit sales and citations.
- Participates in university events to promote awareness of the campus rules, regulations, and other parking resources.
- Promotes and maintains records related to USM reserved parking spaces and USM Gold Line transit route.
- Assists in clerical duties, answering the telephones, routing calls, and mail delivery and pickup.
- Reconciles and balances cash receipts and other forms of payment where applicable, at the closing of each day.
- Works parking for special events, including nights and weekends, and enforces parking regulations as needed.
- Processes appeals and attends the hearing meetings of Student Judicial Board, Faculty and Staff Board and the Parking Committee for both Hattiesburg and Gulf Park Campuses.
- Process and maintain all records for reserved parking spaces and lot.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year of clerical experience and/or training.
- Skill in conflict resolution and de-escalation.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as regulations, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to learn and use the work-related computer software programs.
