Job Profile Summary
Overview:

This individual will design, test, improve, and support equipment for the truss manufacturing industry. Debug and update control components such as PLCs, Safety instrumentation and controllers, VFDs and servo drives. Typically works on equipment that is more complex, contains more components and directly links to company software. Troubleshoot, update and support production and/or customers with the entire machinery control system using schematics, control panel and electrical assembly drawings and be involved in every stage of the system from concept to production. Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical and Manufacturing engineers, Production, Software, Customer Service and other administrative departments to ensure a successful product.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Update, evaluate, & support complex automated industrial machinery products with focus in the Component Manufacturing (CM) & off-site construction industry.
  • Lead production and customer service team members through troubleshooting & root cause / corrective actions on advanced equipment.
  • Create support documentation as it relates to machinery repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Integrate / test/ update / debug NFPA79/NEC/UL508A/ CSA compliant electrical control panels, parts & assemblies using industry best practices.
  • Integrate / test/ update / debug industrial PLC's, VFDs, Servo drives.
  • Integrate / test/ update / debug Industrial Machinery safety standards compliant Safety instrumentation and controllers.
  • Develop / maintain project engineering drawings using Autocad/ Eplan Electrical (i.e: Schematics, enclosures, control panel layouts, electrical assembly etc.)
  • Develop/ maintain project documentation (i.e.: system requirements, equipment manuals, test plans, project notes, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with MiTek engineering procedures, guidelines, industry standards, & governmental regulations applicable to industrial machinery.
  • Enter new / update existing data in MRP / ERP systems.
  • Support Manufacturing, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Installation, & Customer Service Organizations throughout a product's lifecycle.
  • Review / Stay current with industry trends & emerging technologies.
  • Design and execute complex testing of both mechanical and electrical components. Provide design feedback and opportunities based upon the testing.
  • Provide hands on assembly, wiring, startup of prototype machinery.
  • Visit customer sites and troubleshoot machinery as needed to support install and automation support teams.
  • Create new solutions to issues including specifying new components and creating engineering drawings to accompany.

Qualifications

  • 4+ Years of related electrical controls experience
  • Knowledge with AutoCAD Electrical or willingness to improve knowledge
  • Experience with PLC's, motor controllers, VFDs, servos, & sensors and willingness improve knowledge
  • Associate's Degree (Electrical - Electronics Engineering) preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand prints and schematics
  • Ability to use small hand-power tools,
  • Able to use Microsoft Office Applications
