Role: Software Engineer II SAP

Location: Marshall, MI

Duration: 24 Months

Overview / Summary:

We are seeking a Software Engineer II to design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and products. This role participates across the software development lifecycle, including software architecture, coding, testing, deployment, application performance optimization, and implementation of new technologies. The position also involves SAP-related technologies, APIs, backend applications, and user-facing interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers to understand use cases, pain points, and requirements while advocating for user-centric software solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, and deliver software solutions using various tools, languages, frameworks, methodologies, and technologies.
  • Assess application or service requirements and determine appropriate technology stacks, integration methods, and deployment strategies.
  • Create high-level software architecture designs outlining application structure, components, and interfaces.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product owners, designers, and architects.
  • Define and implement software testing strategies, guidelines, policies, and processes.
  • Continuously improve application performance and efficiency and implement new technologies.
  • Apply software development practices such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
  • Support security practices designed to safeguard user data, including encryption and anonymization.
  • Create user-friendly and interactive interfaces.
  • Develop and maintain backend applications, including APIs and microservices, using server-side languages.
  • Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies and capabilities to deliver software solutions.
  • Monitor and participate in solutions involving new technology stack layers and industry collaboration.
  • Support SAP training and certification tracking, coordinate job aid availability, and schedule training sessions across workstreams.
  • Build user-readiness reporting, including dashboards and scorecards, to track certification completion and training effectiveness.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 4+ years of experience in IT.
  • 3+ years of development experience.
  • Practitioner-level experience with at least one coding language or framework.
  • Experience or knowledge of SAP ERP.
  • Experience or knowledge of SAP S/4HANA.
  • Experience or knowledge of Java.
  • Experience or knowledge of APIs.
  • Experience or knowledge of SAP.
  • Experience or knowledge of Jira.
  • Experience with change management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP Activate methodology or project management certification.
  • SAP certification(s) in Security, GRC, FICO, S/4HANA, or related modules.
  • Experience with ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management frameworks.
  • Familiarity with automotive or battery manufacturing operations.
