Job description

The Software Engineer develops and implements software applications that address specific business requirements. This involves translating business needs into technical solutions by writing, testing, and debugging code. The range of work assignments given to the Software Engineer is diverse, requiring them to analyze requirements, evaluate potential approaches, and independently determine the most appropriate course of action. In addition to coding, the Software Engineer often collaborates with stakeholders, participates in code reviews, and ensures that the software meets quality, security, and performance standards.
This is a hybrid position and will require you to work onsite at Humana's facility in Louisville, KY approximately 3 days per week.

The Software Engineer develops and integrates source systems with the company's Software as a Service (SaaS) mastering platform, focusing on building ingress and egress capabilities. We are looking for candidates that have innovative problem-solving skills to design and implement connections, ensuring the platform delivers essential services to stakeholders.

The Software Engineer standardizes the quality assurance procedure for software. Oversee testing and debugging and develop fixes. Research complaints and make necessary adjustments and/or recommendations to resolve complex software related issues. Understand department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating goals, including their linkages to related areas. Follow established guidelines/procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
  • 3 or more years of experience in systems analysis or application programming development
  • At least 2 years' experience with Databricks, Kafka and API
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.)
  • Applied AI techniques to improve processes and enhance productivity (leveraging Databricks AI to review code and improve delivery)
  • Understanding of SQL databases and web technologiesStrong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, conveying information and ideas across diverse audiences while providing clear direction and guidance in leadership roles
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, .Net)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference for candidates with Cloud (Azure) experience

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.


$80,900 - $110,300 per year


This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
