Your Opportunity

BDO Canada’s National Office is planning to hire a Product Manager, IT to join the Project and Product Services team. This opportunity is for an existing vacancy and owns the following responsibilities:

  • Adhere to BDO Canada's product/project management standards while managing budgets, risk, project communications (i.e., status reports, issues tracking log, project plans, communication plans, presentations to steering committees, management of documents, etc.) to ensure cost effective, timely and effective delivery.
  • Work with product owner to effectively translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes, ensuring that all business, technical objectives and goals are clearly understood and met.
  • Gain a deep understanding of customer experience, identify, and fill product gaps, generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth.
  • Engage Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders in a timely and efficient manner, managing their involvement and expectations.
  • Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and vice versa.
  • Plan and design product roadmap.
  • Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact.
  • Prioritize product features and communicate reasoning to stakeholders as well as run design sprints.
  • Assess the priority and scope of issues by understanding business objectives, technical costs, and user needs, as well as being able to weigh alternatives for resolution.
  • Establish, develop and maintain effective communications and relationships with key business partners and sponsors, both internally and externally.
  • Understand all phases of the software development life cycle and various techniques to lead, create and motivate a high value project team consisted of various business and IT stakeholders.
  • Work with appropriate business and IT stakeholders in finalizing deliverables and milestones, and lead and manage the team towards achieving those milestones.

Your Experience And Education

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Business Administration or equivalent work experience with one or more of the following certifications preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP)/ Certified Product Manager (CPM)/ Professional Scrum Master/ Certified Scrum Master/SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) certification preferred
  • 5+ years of direct work experience in a Project Management or Product Manager role with proven experience in product management or as an associate product manager
  • 3+ years of direct work experience in managing all aspects of a successful project/product throughout its lifecycle
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies
  • Working knowledge and experience with Portfolio, Program and Project Management Lifecycles (PMLC), System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Iterative), Project Management and Business Analysis best practices and Business Analysis tools, activities, and methodologies
  • Working knowledge and experience in MS suite of products (Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint, Azure Dev Ops, Visual Studio, Power BI), Project Portfolio Management tools (MS Project Online) and Test Management tools (JIRA)
  • Working knowledge and experience in interactive project/product development and managing change management processes
  • Strong facilitation, presentation and training skills with the ability to convey complex ideas verbally and written to both business and technical staff
  • Excellent analytical, time management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously with tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-development skills to keep up to date with fast-changing trends
  • Experience working in professional services and/or service delivery an asset

The expected range of compensation for this role is $74,000 - $112,000 annually.
