CREC's Academy of Computer Science and Engineering High School is seeking a MLL/ELL Associate Instructor who will, under the general direction of the ELL Curriculum Specialist or Administrator, provide direct instructional support to ELL/MLL students.
Bachelors' degree in education or related field, previous experience working with a diverse population of students within a high school setting as well as applicant being bilingual is preferred, not required. Previous experience working with English Language Learners preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Assists with identifying and reporting all incoming ELL students.
  2. Assist with parent notification and ongoing communication.
  3. Creates and follows an ELL student schedule providing appropriate student grouping and service time.
  4. Provides an effective learning environment for every student through comprehensive push-in/pull-out instruction in both language acquisition and content areas.
  5. Uses appropriate materials to support teaching, including technology and communicates the need for additional supplies.
  6. Monitors and assesses student performance and progress through lessons, assignments, and formative/summative assessments.
  7. Communicates effectively and interacts with a diverse ethnic and socio-economic population.
  8. Collaborates and maintains communication with general classroom teachers, interventionists, support staff and other educational team members.
  9. Assists with the administration of the annual language assessment.
  10. Assists with completing Individual Student Plans (ISP), progress reports, PPT reports and other necessary forms in a timely and accurate fashion.
  11. Attends ELL department meetings
  12. Performs other assigned duties.
