Job description


Under general supervision, responsible for scheduling operating time of information systems operations in order to ensure that the information systems equipment is effectively utilized.
Responsibilities
  • Schedules surgical procedures, diagnostic therapy and other treatments; coordinates pre-surgical medical clearance and care coordination for discharge orders.
  • Verifies receipt of physician orders.
  • Communicates with patients, providers, and associates via email, fax, and telephone; educates patients on pre-op and post-op instructions.
  • Recommends standard policies and procedures for providing routine service.
  • Coordinates preventive maintenance requirements with operating requirements.
  • Reconciles surgery reports within 24 hours to confirm authorizations match surgery performed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Some medical experience.
  • Previous surgery scheduling experience.
  • Previous electronic medical record (EMR) experience.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED is required.
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of professional experience is required.
