Job description


Position Summary
Dr. Haonan Chen in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking an undergraduate researcher to assist with research in weather radar & satellite data analysis and deep learning applications. The successful candidate must be able to work both individually and with others in the Artificial Intelligence and Remote Sensing (AIRS) laboratory and should be devoted to a learning environment. To excel in this role, the candidate must be self-motivated, be able to multi-task, and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. The position can work up to 40 hours per week.
Essential Job Duties
General responsibilities may include:
  • Collaborate with the PI and other researchers to advance the body of knowledge in AI and remote sensing (Digital Proficiency, Inclusive Teamwork, Global Context, Critical Thinking/Problem Solving)
  • Present on research discoveries (Verbal & Written Communication)
  • Apply knowledge from related courses to research (Self-Reflection, Creativity)
  • Ensure the lab environment is safe and clean (Personal Accountability)
  • Comply with state and university rules and regulations for research labs (Personal Accountability)

Position Minimum Requirements
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts

Position Preferred Qualifications
  • Outstanding interpersonal and presentation abilities
  • Proficient in Python programming
  • Experience with data sciences
  • Experience with radar data
