Software Developer

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain software applications and digital solutions supporting Transformation Strategy, Enablement, and Service Experience initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders, and technical teams to analyze requirements and develop effective software solutions.
  • Participate in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain web applications, enterprise applications, APIs, integrations, and automation solutions.
  • Support modernization efforts by enhancing existing applications and developing new system capabilities that improve business processes and service delivery.
  • Design, develop, and maintain application interfaces between internal and external systems.
  • Create and execute unit tests, integration tests, and automated test scripts to ensure software quality and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects, performance issues, and system integration challenges.
  • Develop technical documentation, including system designs, technical specifications, code documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Support Agile development activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to software engineering best practices and development standards.
  • Collaborate with DevSecOps and infrastructure teams to support application deployment, release management, and CI/CD pipeline activities.
  • Develop and maintain database queries, stored procedures, data integrations, and reporting functionality as required.
  • Ensure software solutions comply with organizational security requirements, accessibility standards, and coding best practices.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT), implementation activities, and post-deployment support.
  • Assist in developing automation capabilities that improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
  • Monitor application performance and recommend enhancements to improve reliability, scalability, and usability.
  • Support incident resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of software development experience supporting enterprise applications, systems, or technology programs.
  • Experience developing and maintaining web applications, enterprise applications, APIs, or integrated software solutions.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C#, .NET, JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with relational databases, SQL development, and data integration concepts.
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
  • Experience working in Agile, Scrum, DevOps, or hybrid development environments.
  • Familiarity with source control and version management tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub, or GitLab.
  • Experience performing software testing, debugging, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • U.S. Citizen, and ability to get the clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and/or Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) programs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or cloud-hosted application environments.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, SharePoint, Power Platform, Salesforce, or similar enterprise platforms.
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices architectures, and system integration technologies.
  • Understanding of secure software development practices and cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience supporting digital transformation, enablement, or customer experience initiatives.
