Overview
LMI is seeking a Lead Technical Advisor / Technical Lead to support emerging mission initiatives with U.S. Navy Naval Special Warfare (NSW) in Coronado, CA. This role will serve as a senior technical leader advising Navy stakeholders on the design, modernization, and deployment of mission-critical enterprise and operational technologies.
The Lead Technical Advisor will partner closely with NSW technical leadership to define architecture, guide modernization strategies, and oversee the delivery of scalable software and cloud solutions supporting maritime and special operations missions. The role requires deep experience across cloud architecture, enterprise software, DevOps, and secure DoD systems, along with the ability to translate complex technical challenges into operational outcomes for mission partners.
This is a high-visibility advisory and delivery role requiring both hands-on technical leadership and strategic engagement with senior Navy stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Strategic Technical Leadership
  • Serve as the senior technical advisor to Naval Special Warfare stakeholders, guiding the architecture and modernization of mission and enterprise systems.
  • Develop and implement technology strategies aligned with NSW mission priorities, focusing on scalability, security, and operational resilience.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies including AI, cloud platforms, and data analytics to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Provide strategic technical recommendations and briefings to senior Navy leadership and program stakeholders.

Architecture & Modernization
  • Lead the architecture and integration of secure enterprise and operational systems across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
  • Support modernization initiatives including ERP transformation, data platforms, and mission-support systems.
  • Architect scalable solutions leveraging AWS, containerization, APIs, and modern DevSecOps pipelines.
  • Ensure solutions meet DoD cybersecurity and compliance requirements including RMF, Zero Trust, and FISMA.

Technical Delivery
  • Lead technical teams delivering secure software and infrastructure solutions in classified and mission environments.
  • Guide development teams through modern software development practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality technical solutions on schedule and aligned with mission needs.
  • Oversee system integration with existing Navy and DoD enterprise systems.

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner with NSW leadership, program managers, and mission operators to translate operational needs into technical solutions.
  • Facilitate cross-team collaboration between government stakeholders, engineering teams, and industry partners.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field
  • 12+ years of technical experience supporting enterprise or mission systems
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical architecture and modernization efforts in DoD environments
  • Deep experience with cloud architecture (AWS preferred) and distributed systems
  • Experience developing and deploying modern software applications into production environments
  • Expertise in DevOps / DevSecOps practices including CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
  • Experience designing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity frameworks including:
    • NIST RMF
    • Zero Trust
    • FISMA
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and mentor engineers
  • Strong communication skills and experience briefing senior government stakeholders

Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience supporting U.S. Navy or Naval Special Warfare programs
  • Experience with Navy ERP modernization initiatives
  • AWS certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or Developer Associate
  • Experience integrating systems across DoD networks and mission systems
  • Background supporting special operations, maritime, or operational mission environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical strategy while remaining hands-on in architecture and development

The target salary range for this position is $148,301 - $255,653.79.
The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation. Individual salaries are determined by various factors including, but not limited to location, internal equity, business considerations, client contract requirements, and candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, skills, and security clearances.
