Job description

As an Associate Director, Product Analytics and Insights, you'll build and lead the analytics function that keeps Best Buy Ads running with clarity and confidence. You'll own the design and delivery of a suite of health dashboards spanning account, inventory, product, campaign, and deal performance, providing leadership and cross-functional teams with a real-time pulse on the business. Critically, you won't just surface data: you'll embed analytical reasoning and actionable recommendations directly into dashboard workflows, so decision-makers always know not just what is happening, but what to do about it. Beyond dashboards, you'll scale the processes and data infrastructure that turn raw signals into proactive, recurring insights. You'll manage a team of managers and senior managers while partnering directly with senior stakeholders across Ads and Ecomm in a matrixed environment to ensure the right information reaches the right decision-makers at the right time. Best Buy Ads is a key part of our company's business strategy, as we deliver business results by partnering with leading brands to captivate audiences, drive engagement, and provide measurable impact.
This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work some days at our Best Buy office in Richfield, Minnesota, or New York City, and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. Candidates outside these metro areas may qualify for remote work. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.
What you'll do
  • Own the design, development, and maintenance of health dashboards covering account, inventory, product, campaign, and deal performance
  • Build and scale self-serve reporting infrastructure that enables stakeholders across Ads and Ecomm to access actionable insights independently
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of managers and senior managers by setting clear priorities, building capabilities, and fostering a culture of rigor, curiosity, and continuous learning
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving to define and standardize analytics processes, shifting the team from ad hoc requests to proactive, recurring insight delivery
  • Partner closely with data engineering and product teams, collaborating in a matrixed environment to ensure reliable, well-governed data pipelines
  • Serve as a trusted analytics advisor to director- and VP-level stakeholders, translating ambiguous business questions into clear analytical frameworks and recommendations
  • Adapt analytical approaches and priorities such as business needs, tools, and data maturity evolve

Basic qualifications
  • 7 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data science
  • 4 years experience working within ad tech, programmatic advertising, or retail media network vertical
  • 3 years of experience managing and developing analytics teams
  • 1 year of experience with Tableau and Looker for dashboard development
  • Proficiency in SQL and/or Python for data analysis and extraction
  • Strong ability to apply critical thinking, collaborate cross functionally, and executive presence to influence senior stakeholders

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience partnering on data pipelines or analytics engineering work
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as GCP or AWS
  • Experience with data mesh or medallion architecture principles
  • Experience operating effectively in fast moving, ambiguous environments
  • Demonstrated adaptability and comfort working across complex, matrixed organizations
