What does a successful Engineering Manager - DevOps Engineering do at Clover?
As an Engineering Manager for DevOps Engineering at Clover (a Fiserv company), you will lead the team responsible for the platform that powers millions of payment interactions worldwide. You will drive the vision and execution for our Infrastructure, DevOps, and Site Reliability strategy-building a platform-agnostic performance and quality ecosystem that is consumed as a service by Clover development teams globally. In this role, you will balance high-level architectural oversight with people-first leadership, empowering your team to build scalable, customer-centric solutions in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
What you will do:
  • Lead and scale the team: Direct a team of technical engineers, taking ownership of their deliverables, career growth, and mentorship, while partnering with talent acquisition to recruit top engineering talent.
  • Define strategy and execution: Deliver the strategy around Infrastructure, DevOps, and Site Reliability in close collaboration with leadership and stakeholders across Clover.
  • Drive end-to-end delivery: Oversee the end-to-end deployment of platform features, define product roadmaps and schedules, and maintain high standards of technical quality through architectural decisions and code reviews.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work alongside distributed leadership, Product Management, Design, Quality, Operations, and Customer Support to build world-class products.
  • Foster innovation: Ensure the engineering organization balances modern, efficient technology choices with a dynamic, challenging, and engaging work environment.

What you will need to have:
  • 12+ years of total technical work experience, including 4+ years directly managing teams of highly technical engineers.
  • Strong technical background with prior hands-on experience as a DevOps or Technical Lead.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based platform services, Kubernetes (K8s), CloudSQL, and DevOps principles.
  • Knowledge and experience with distributed systems architecture, including microservices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in benchmark creation, performance measurement, and modeling system behavior under load.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate across distributed teams.
  • A leadership approach focused on empathy, team empowerment, and continuous professional development.

What would be great to have:
  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Domain expertise in payments, Point of Sale (POS), or small business software platforms.
  • A proven track record of scaling and optimizing high-performing DevOps/SRE organizations.

Salary Range
$160,000.00 - $240,000.00
These pay ranges apply to employees in Sunnyvale, California. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
