Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Failure Analysis associate to lead advanced diagnostics, root-cause investigations, and cross-functional problem solving for our electronic products, including LED drivers, power supplies, and controls. This senior-level role drives product quality, influences design decisions, and strengthens test coverage across the organization.
This position is ideal for an experienced technical contributor who excels in analytical work, thrives in complex system-level problem scenarios, and collaborates effectively with engineering, product, manufacturing, suppliers, and customer-facing teams.
Key Responsibilities
Failure Analysis & RCA
Lead complex failure analysis on electronic assemblies to identify root causes and trends.
Perform electrical evaluations using lab tools (oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition).
Develop and validate hypotheses for complex, intermittent failures using structured RCA methods.
Partner with design engineering to implement corrective actions and redesigns.
Quality & Cross-Functional Initiatives
Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Product teams to improve design robustness and prevent defects.
Participate in quality reviews, SPC holds, and release readiness.
Analyze field returns, warranty data, and manufacturing issues to identify validation gaps.
Drive improvements in testing, automation, and quality processes.
Technical Leadership
Act as SME in failure mechanisms across power electronics, controls, and LED systems.
Mentor engineers and technicians on FA techniques, tools, and analysis.
Improve FA processes, documentation, and reporting tools.
Reporting & Communication
Prepare clear failure analysis and quality reports for leadership.
Maintain accurate failure data and classification.
Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Location & Work Model:
This role is based in the Atlanta (ATL) area, with a strong preference for candidates located in the region. The position follows a hybrid schedule requiring onsite presence of minimum three (3) days per week.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field;
5+ years of experience in failure analysis, hardware engineering, electronics testing, reliability engineering, or a related discipline.
Proven expertise with electronic diagnostic equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power analyzers, X-ray, microscopes, etc.).
Strong understanding of electronic circuits, power electronics, LEDs/Drivers, firmware interactions, and common failure mechanisms.
Demonstrated success in performing structured root cause analysis and leading cross-functional corrective action efforts.
Excellent analytical, communication, and technical writing skills.
Preferred
Experience with LED drivers, power supplies, or Controls systems.
Familiarity with reliability testing, DVT/QTP, automated test development, HALT/ALT, or data analytics for quality.
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes such as PCB assembly, SMT, selective solder, or potting.
Experience mentoring others or serving as a technical lead.

The range for this position is $83,300.00 to $149,900.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant's experience and geographic location.
