Associate Real World Evidence information

What is an associate real world evidence?

An Associate Real World Evidence (RWE) professional supports the design, execution, and analysis of studies that use real-world data—such as electronic health records, insurance claims, and patient registries—to generate insights about healthcare outcomes, treatment effectiveness, and patient populations. These professionals typically work in pharmaceutical companies, research organizations, or healthcare consultancies. Their work helps guide clinical development, regulatory decisions, and health policy by providing evidence beyond traditional clinical trials. Associates often assist with data collection, statistical analysis, literature reviews, and report writing under the direction of more senior RWE scientists.

How does an associate real world evidence typically collaborate with cross-functional teams in pharmaceutical research?

As an Associate Real World Evidence (RWE) professional, you will frequently collaborate with colleagues from biostatistics, epidemiology, medical affairs, and regulatory affairs to design and execute studies using real-world data. Your role often involves translating scientific objectives into actionable study protocols, ensuring data integrity, and communicating findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Effective teamwork and clear communication are crucial, as you'll contribute insights that help inform product development, regulatory submissions, and market access strategies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an associate real world evidence, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Associate Real World Evidence, a strong background in epidemiology, biostatistics, or related health sciences with at least a bachelor’s or master’s degree is essential. Familiarity with statistical analysis software such as SAS or R, database management systems, and experience with healthcare or claims data are typically required. Excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help translate complex data into actionable insights. These skills are vital for generating credible, data-driven evidence that informs healthcare decisions and supports regulatory submissions.

What is the difference between Associate Real World Evidence vs Clinical Data Analyst?

Job description

ABOUT NOVELLIA

Novellia is the first and only company that lets anyone in the U.S. gain access to nearly a decade of their health data in under 30 seconds — 100% free. All your health records, across every doctor, in one place, always up to date.

We are the only patient-powered real-world data platform delivering comprehensive, patient-authorized longitudinal health insights to accelerate biopharma innovation. Unlike traditional RWD providers who deliver fragmented institutional data, we empower patients to access 20+ years of their health records, then transform these complete health journeys into fit-for-purpose datasets for evidence generation, regulatory submissions, and market access. We are growing 5x year over year, have raised close to $30M in funding, and are backed by tier-1 investors including Spark Capital, Khosla Ventures, and Bling Capital.

Working with the world's top researchers, we turn health insights into life-changing action for millions of people around the world.

THE ROLE

This is a founding scientific hire. You will be the senior epidemiological voice at Novellia, shaping how we design and deliver real-world evidence studies, building the methodological infrastructure the team will run on, and joining client and business development conversations as a scientific credibility anchor.

In the near term, this role is hands-on: you will design and execute studies in close collaboration with our data and biostatistics team while also helping us win new business by demonstrating scientific depth in early client conversations. As the team scales, you will move into a leadership role, setting quality standards and overseeing a growing group of epidemiologists.

We are looking for someone who has spent time at a pharma services firm, CRO, or health tech company and knows what good looks like in study design, client relationships, and scientific rigor. The ideal candidate is also technical, has strong command in AI coding and can independently design and execute on studies in collaboration with the broader team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Lead the design and execution of real-world evidence studies across natural history, comparative effectiveness, HEOR, treatment patterns, and external control arms
  • Partner with the commercial team on client and business development calls and execution of client-facing data and analytics services deliverables
  • Leverage AI tools to drive efficiency across the research workflow, from protocol structuring and literature synthesis to output generation, so you and the team can run multiple studies in parallel without sacrificing rigor.
  • Design and operationalize the plan to scale the research team, including headcount growth, SOP, analytics and client engagement playbook, in order to support leading biopharma clients with their evidence generation needs.
  • Collaborate closely with our data team on end-to-end delivery and mentor future scientific hires
  • Contribute to publications, conference presentations, and other scientific communications that build Novellia's external credibility
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Master or PhD in epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, or a closely related field
  • 7+ years of RWE research experience in a pharma services, CRO, or health tech setting, not primarily academic
  • Deep familiarity with real-world data sources (EHR, claims, registries) and core study designs (cohort, case-control, external control arms, interrupted time series)
  • Comfortable engaging directly with pharma clients across medical affairs, HEOR, and clinical development, and able to lead scientific conversations with confidence
  • Strong command of causal inference methods, including propensity score methods, IPTW, and G-computation
  • An AI-forward mindset: you actively use AI tools to work faster and scale yourself, and are excited about what this means for scientific productivity
  • Published track record at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals
NICE TO HAVE
  • Experience in oncology, CVRM, or rare disease RWE
  • Exposure to regulatory-grade RWE for FDA or HTA submissions
  • Prior experience in an early-stage or startup environment
WHY NOVELLIA
  • You will be a foundational hire with the opportunity to build a scientific practice from the ground up. The infrastructure you create will define how this team operates for years.
  • You will work across a broad portfolio of pharma clients and therapeutic areas, with direct exposure to the full commercial cycle from BD to delivery
  • Competitive base salary ($160K–$200K), meaningful equity, and benefits
  • A team that takes scientific rigor seriously and invests in the tools and infrastructure to do the work well
Benefits & Perks
  • Equity in Novellia
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k)
  • Flexible time off
  • Wellness stipend
  • Up to 12 weeks of parental leave
