Job description
The Director will develop partnerships and coordinate with the Community and
Government Director of Leadership and Public Service to support recruitment and fundraising across the state. This position reports to the Dean of the College and will coordinate with the Associate Dean of Academics on curriculum development.
- Oversee the curriculum, recruitment, scheduling, and operations of the LPS and MPA programs
- Lead nationally recognized programs that develop leaders in Public Service, focusing on state and local issues
- Manage staffing of graduate programs, including the recruitment, scheduling, and assessment of instructors
- Supervise and work collaboratively with the Manager for Student Success and the Program Coordinator to ensure the highest quality student experience
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with key program partners and sponsors
- Admit graduate students and develop strategies to foster a strong pipeline of prospective students
- Cultivate relationships with alumni of the School of Public Policy while
maintaining an Alumni Council - Cultivate partnerships to expand support for students, including mentoring and career opportunities
- Teach assigned courses, educate and advise students who have widely diverse experiences and expectations
- Assess and participate in continuous improvement
- Participate in college and faculty meetings
- Develop research and publishing within the School of Public Policy in
coordination with the Associate Dean - Be open to diverse education delivery formats
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Earned doctorate or terminal academic degree with an emphasis on at least one of the following areas: public policy, leadership, public administration, community development (Ph.D. or EdD preferred) or significant public policy experience with a desire to complete a terminal degree
Experience (preferred):
- Experience in leading organizations or experience in public service
- Experience in and evidence of building strong community/governmental
partnerships, successful professional networks, and university teaching
Skills:
- Knowledge of curriculum development and pedagogy
- Excellent speaking, communication, teaching, and presentation skills
