Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Municipal Water/Wastewater Project Manager to join our growing Water business in Salt Lake City, Utah. 

At AECOM, we're delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions that shape the future of our communities and environment. As a Project Manager in our Water business line, you'll lead transformative municipal water and wastewater projects that support the health, resilience, and growth of communities across Utah and the Mountain West. 

Job Responsibilities 

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Project management and technical oversight of team members (AECOM and subconsultants) for planning, design, and construction phase services for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including water pipelines, sewage collection systems, pump stations, storage tanks, water treatment systems, wastewater treatment systems, etc. 
  • Identifying new business opportunities for AECOM, coordinating and participating in project presentations to clients and other external groups, and promoting AECOM's capabilities, marketing its services among existing and prospective clients. 
  • Participating in project opportunity evaluation, consultant selection, and the preparation of AECOM's qualification/experience statements. 
  • Coordinating and participating in contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors, and drafting complex professional service agreements and addenda for review by senior management. 
  • Directing the project team and client compliance with contract terms and monitoring subcontractors' compliance with contractual commitments. 
  • Preparing project work plans, scopes, schedules, and budgets, and communicating these to project team members; monitoring/managing project production for compliance with schedule, budget, and quality objectives. 
  • Supervising technical professionals, associate project managers, and design staff, and their workloads. 
  • Monitoring and reporting the financial status of projects to technical managers. 
  • Performing other duties as the supervisor may deem necessary. 
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related discipline and 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. 
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Utah or the ability to obtain one within the first 6 months of employment. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Direct project experience working with municipal projects, utilities and/or public-sector water/wastewater agencies. 
  • Experience and familiarity with the following programs: ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, SWMM, and/or Sewer/WaterCAD 
  • Experience and established relationships in working with local municipal clients in the Salt Lake City region. 
  • Candidates must have proven interpersonal skills, including client interaction, public speaking, and persuasive ability; strong project financial management, along with the ability to lead diverse, multi-disciplined teams.
