Job description

Job Title: Project Engineer - Field Services

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid)

Compensation: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Project Engineer - Field Services to support infrastructure deployments, client projects, and technical implementations throughout the Southern California region. This role combines hands-on field engineering, project execution, infrastructure deployment, and client-facing technical support.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment, strong Microsoft and networking expertise, and the ability to independently manage technical projects while collaborating with project managers, solution architects, and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Field Services

• Lead and execute assigned technical projects from kickoff through completion
• Perform on-site project work including office relocations, infrastructure deployments, rack and stack installations, network hardware implementations, and endpoint rollouts
• Support project cutovers, migrations, deployments, and implementation activities
• Execute project plans, runbooks, and deployment procedures
• Provide project status updates, identify risks, and escalate issues when necessary
• Coordinate schedules and technical activities with project managers and internal teams

Infrastructure & Systems Administration

• Configure, deploy, and support network infrastructure including firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and VPN technologies
• Install, configure, and manage physical and virtual server environments
• Support Hyper-V, VMware ESX/vCenter, storage systems, and virtualization platforms
• Configure and support Microsoft technologies including Entra ID, Intune, Office 365, Azure, SharePoint, Teams, and Windows environments
• Conduct network discoveries and onboarding for new managed service clients

Client Support & Service Delivery

• Deliver exceptional customer service and technical expertise
• Resolve technical issues with minimal escalation
• Maintain client documentation and infrastructure records
• Identify infrastructure improvement opportunities and provide recommendations
• Participate in on-call support rotation as required

Security & Compliance

• Support security best practices and compliance initiatives
• Assist with risk management and security framework implementation
• Maintain awareness of CIS, NIST, SOC2, and similar standards
• Follow company security policies and service delivery procedures

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, or field services
• Experience working for a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or IT Services company
• Strong networking experience including firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and VPNs
• Experience with Hyper-V and/or VMware virtualization platforms
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft technologies including:
• Office 365
• Azure
• Entra ID
• Intune
• SharePoint
• Microsoft Teams
• Experience supporting servers, storage systems, and enterprise infrastructure
• Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and automation
• Ability to travel frequently throughout Southern California
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Must live within 80 miles of the Southern California Metropolitan Area

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
