Job description

Description
As an Engineering Intern, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to support capital projects, facility improvements, equipment troubleshooting, safety improvements, and operational initiatives across our production environments.
Past interns have contributed to manufacturing process optimization and utility-related projects, gaining hands-on experience during the planning, design, installation, and commissioning phases of each project.
Interns in this role can expect to further their learning on project management in addition to collaboration, customer focus, independent and team-centered work, professionalism, attention to detail, time management, and more.
What you'll be doing:
  • Participate in and/or lead capital projects within cheese production, whey production, facilities, building operations, or continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Assist with the development of specification documents to support project requirements.

  • Support engineers by gathering equipment information, identifying equipment needs, and requisitioning necessary equipment and supplies.

  • Coordinate with contractors, equipment suppliers, and internal teams.

  • Document equipment installations and update plant layout drawings to maintain an accurate visual representation of the facility

  • Assist Project Engineers with reporting and documentation needed to support project objectives.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support maintenance initiatives and operational needs.

  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving for issues that arise within the plant.

  • Deliver presentations to corporate business partners and plant leadership.

  • Participate in and lead meetings to support communication, planning, and project execution.

In this role, you'll support production and facility improvement projects while gaining hands-on experience in project planning, documentation, and execution. You'll work with engineers, contractors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to develop technical skills and see projects come to life in a manufacturing environment.

What you need to be considered for this role:
  • Student in Junior or Senior status working towards a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or other related Engineering field from an accredited school required.

Preferred :
  • The ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, use sound judgment, and draw valid conclusions to make effective decisions and achieve successful problem resolution.

  • Participative involvement in campus organizations, non-class related volunteer involvement, off-campus employment, and demonstrated leadership preferred.

  • The ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of Associates.
