As part of our expanding Global Engineering and Scientific consulting team, you will work at the forefront of today's most complex engineering challenges. You may be engaged in analyzing failures of a myriad of products from a variety of industries, but with a heavy focus on large industrial power, oil and gas, chemical or similar processes and machinery. Or you may also be engaged in automotive, consumer products, consumer electronics and medical devices. Outside of that work, our construction team specializes in buildings/high-rises, bridges, retaining walls, and other structures that create our built world.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting hands-on failure investigations including
  • Comparison of as-built and existing conditions with the design
  • Performing field and laboratory testing
  • Assisting with field inspections
  • Performing calculations
  • Researching and data analysis
  • Reviewing, sorting, and summarizing relevant documentation
  • Drafting supporting verbiage for reports
  • Helping with the creation of demonstratives
  • Analyzing technical reports offered by others, and developing concurring and rebuttal positions
  • Assisting with client communications in all time zones
  • Developing positive relationships with colleagues, peers and clients
  • Demonstrating excellent analytical skills with acute attention to detail to successfully achieve project milestones.
  • Managing workload to achieve simultaneous project milestones while maintaining project schedules and budgets.
  • Engage in guided and self-directed professional development through formal and informal training.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Requisite professional designations and work experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Material Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Science/Architectural Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a similar designation. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 1+ years of prior experience in forensic/root cause analysis.
  • Pursuing PE credentials is a plus
  • Skilled and proficient analytical and problem resolution abilities
  • Excellent listening, verbal, written, technical, and presentation skills
  • Proficient at technical writing skills to complement analytics
  • Assimilate relevant information quickly and effectively in unfamiliar situations and develop creative approaches and solutions necessary to resolve complex problems
  • Prioritize and manage time and resources with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Manage external stakeholders
  • Work independently whilst knowing which issues and risks need to be highlighted to senior staff, ideally accompanied by suggested viable solutions
  • Passionate desire to join in with, and/or lead, auxiliary tasks associated with a growing practice within a rapidly growing firm
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Competency to working proficiency in a second non-English language is a plus
