Job description

Position Title:Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Marketing - Sales Management / Professional SellingAppointment Type:FacultyJob Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Marketing in the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University is seeking a successful candidate at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The primary research area is in Sales Management and/or Professional Selling. This position is a full-time (9-month) appointment starting 8/16/2027. An earlier start date in January 2027 will also be considered. This individual will be affiliated with the Ivy Sales Forum in a research capacity. Additional administrative involvement with the Ivy Sales Forum is an option, but not required, depending on the selected individual's preferences.
Initial review of applications will begin on August 10, 2026, but applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.

Our internationally known faculty in the Debbie and Jerry Ivy College of Business are engaged in a wide variety of research. The topics are broad and aim to link theory and practice in an academically rigorous fashion. Our faculty focus on current and future issues encountered by industry and organizations at all levels. Issues involve both micro- and macro-related topics that affect internal business operations as well as society at large. The goal of our research is to deliver a steady flow of thought-provoking articles in premier journals.


Position Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will conduct high-impact scholarly research publishable in premier and high-quality marketing journals and will teach marketing-related courses at the undergraduate, Master's, and/or PhD levels. The candidate is expected to significantly grow and shape the department's research profile.
Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in marketing or a closely related field

  • Must meet the college's standards to be Scholarly Academic Qualified under AACSB Accreditation standards

  • A strong portfolio of research in sales management and/or professional selling, aimed at premier marketing journals (such as the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science)

  • A record of effective teaching of marketing and/or sales courses

Additionally, for Associate/Full rank:

  • At least six years of experience as a full-time, tenure track or tenured faculty member, with an outstanding record of scholarship eligible for a tenured position at Iowa State University


Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced research pipeline, including papers invited for revision at premier journals

  • Prior publications in premier marketing journals

  • Experience in mentoring junior faculty and/or doctoral students

  • Track record of collaborating with industry partners on research
