Job description

The Blueprint (Role Profile)
We are currently looking for a Product Engineer II to support our Dayton Facility. This role works collaboratively with cross-functional teams and is responsible for new and existing product designs, driving product development from concept through production implementation. The Product Engineer will utilize 3D CAD software to create, modify, and evaluate product designs through 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings.

The Build (Responsibilities)
  • Research and develop new products and related components from concept through production implementation while participating in cross-functional product development teams with Marketing and Product Management to develop and define new product concepts and requirements
  • Support and maintain existing products and business operations while serving as a key engineering partner to the Manufacturing team
  • Troubleshoot engineering and design-related issues and address internal quality concerns
  • Apply working knowledge of metals, machining, and manufacturing processes to develop and design components that meet product specifications in a high-volume production environment
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Materials teams to specify and source raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished products
  • Lead and significantly contribute to efforts to identify product requirements, generate product models, assemblies, and drawings, and develop and maintain complete product design documentation
  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software, preferably Creo, for tight-tolerance machined components. Design and develop prototypes ranging from individual concepts to comprehensive, fully functional products
  • Lead, facilitate, and participate in cross-functional meetings and design reviews with peers and engineering teams
  • Support Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Operations in process improvement initiatives and the implementation of new manufacturing processes
  • Complete engineering changes to update and improve existing designs in support of innovation and advancements in manufacturing processes

The Toolbox (Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering experience
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, product development and/or manufacturing engineering
  • Experience with CAD software such as Creo, CATIA, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar platforms; Creo experience is preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple concurrent projects and tasks
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies is preferred
  • Working knowledge of various manufacturing and finishing processes, including machining, heat treatment, casting, forging, anodizing, powder coating, and related processes and ability to move design changes from concept through implementation on the production floor
