Job Purpose/Summary:

Beyond the technical checklist, looking for someone who writes production quality code as a habit, code a teammate can pick up, debug, and extend without archaeology. Our CRM is custom built rather than an off-the-shelf platform, this role requires real software engineering skill, not just configuration experience. The ability to read, extend, and refactor an existing codebase matters as much as writing new features. Strong communication with non-technical stakeholders and a track record of taking ownership of problems through to resolution matter as much as the technical skill set.

Essential Job Functions of the Associate, Software Engineer:
  • Design, build, and maintain applications using C# and ASP.NET Core, primarily WPF and MVC
  • Work within and extend our proprietary, in-house CRM system
  • Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database schemas and integrate with code using Entity Framework Core
  • Build custom reports for internal and business stakeholder use
  • Write clean, well-structured, maintainable code with appropriate testing and participate in code reviews
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues with proper error handling and logging
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
Required Education / Experience of the Associate, Software Engineer:
  • High School Diploma
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong proficiency in C# and ASP.NET Core, particularly MVC and WPF; including proficiency in HTML, JavaScript and CSS
  • Experience with Entity Framework Core and SQL, including schema design and query optimization
  • Experience developing and maintaining custom business applications where software design and coding were primary responsibilities. Experience limited to administration, configuration, or low-code customization of third-party platforms is not sufficient
  • Comfort learning and working within a large, established internal codebase without extensive onboarding documentation
  • Experience working with source control systems such as Azure DevOps, Git, or TFS
Additional Job Qualifications of the Associate, Software Engineer:
  • Experience in financial services, trading, or wealth management preferred
  • Experience building custom reporting solutions preferred
  • Experience leading small technical initiatives preferred
  • Some experience utilizing AI coding tools and/or AI agent development preferred

The actual base pay offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held. Base pay is one component of Chevy Chase Trust's total compensation package, which also includes access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, bonus plans and more.
